Are We A Real Chance For Finals? / Finals - The run home [Merged]

I'd prefer to finish 9th and have the young blokes experience some wins and hopefully start to develop a winning culture rather than finish 14th and get better draft picks but the current group still not knowing how to win games. We should go for broke and try to win every game possible and just maybe we might win enough to play in the finals. Finals would be great but developing a winning culture is even more important for the future.

I don't care if we do or don't make the finals but learning a winning culture and striving for it is ging to help a hell of a lot more than the speculative diference of pick 5 to 9.

We already have won too many games to bottom out now so claws argument to tank from here doesn't have much merit.

Learning how to keep winning well that's another thing.

Still I think we will just miss finals

People, look at it this way,we have three home games in the next four weeks. We have won the last 2 games.Let us assume 80k at the G and we beat carlton. We beat WC.Meet essendon at the G.possibly another 80K,then brisbane at the dome, possibly 45k.Great money spinner for uncontracted players, not to mention a great experience for all the players.Terry might have to come out and say that it is unfair that all opposing sides treat our games as blockbusters. ;D ;)

hmm williams at port. has a younger list than us. the same amount of veterans. coming of a gf but he clearly recognises list deficiencies.
9 games to go just 10 points out of the 8 a reasonable draw and hes closed up shop. hes being realistic and recognises where they are at and hes doing the right thing by his club.
imo list wise port have far fewer problems than us as far as structure goes and the development time required to bring players thru.

Pointless crying in your beer Clawmiester.
Demons, Wet Coke, Freo and Bummers won't win enough games to pass us on the ladder. Chocko has already declared Port are gunna tank so they won't pass us.
This leaves us with sixth pick in the draft at best.
We have a heap of young kids getting games under the belt and another heap still trying to get to senior status.
Far better to have the kids currently playing get the chance to grow some confidence and self belief by stringing nine or ten wins for the season and making the kids at the edges fight your much hated not good enoughs for a spot in the side than just gifting losses to the next bunch of kids.
Why do you think we have struggled to close out games year in year out no matter how far ahead we have seemed to be? Lack of belief Claw. Most of our core senior players have been gifted games as juniors and been pounded year in year out. When the crunch comes they still struggle to believe they can win.
As for finals this year, don't give a rats where they end up as long as they fight out every match they play and the kids earn their spot.

We might have too if we'd lost last weekend and no doubt if Port had won and were still a shot at finals they'd be doing everything they could to make it.

Williams was just having a sooky la la straight after the game. He said they couldn't make finals (which is probably right - 2.5 games outside the 8th spot and still have to play North twice, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and Collingwood - they aitn going to win 7 or 8 out of their last 9) and said they had to start looking at players but also qualiified that buy saying that his comments were very close to the end of the match in which he was bitterly disappointed. Let's wait and see what the o great Williams does before throwing accolades at him.

We can put this to bed now. Season over well before September yet again.

Now we can look forward to a few embarrasing losses against lower ranked teams in the run home.

No hope. We won't beat Geelong, Hawthorn or Adelaide. The other six games are probably winnable but we'll *smile* at least one up so that'll leave us short. We'll end up with 8.5 - 9.5 wins.

Well there you have it. We've already *smile* up one of our winnable games. That didn't take long Tiges. The losers have unfortunately proven me right again. What a joke.

Disagree. We'll win games when the pressure is off and it doesn't count. Can't win them when it matters. Typical Richmond.

And some big names are back for WC next round.
