Are we losing sight of our trade objective?

Don't suppose GM is using all this hullaballoo about that Carlton person as a smokescreen for something sweeter............

well he did speak to 15-20 players i think were his comments.....stay tuned ;)

I wouldnt give up pick 8 = Hall and Krak thats 3 out of our starting 22 pretty much for 1!!!

I believe that a major element in this year’s trading will be the state of player contracts come this time next year. Who will be up for grabs from our list and who will be worth trading to get into a higher draft position?

If it goes slowly this year then I am convinced part of the reason would be to hold onto some major trading cards for next year.

Phantom,

Couldn't agree more, we should have zero (or less) interest in the likes of Fevola - are we forgetting that he is getting the heave-ho from a team that's finished last TWICE IN A ROW? Hardly a ringing endorsement (and its not as if Pagan is a *smile* coach who doesn't get the best from his players).

We've seen what the addition of good youth can do, we should be doing everything in our power to get picks in the first three rounds so we can continue to build from the base and create our own champions.

My fear is that GM can't help himself in trade week, he would hate to be left out of whatever mega-deal is in the wind.

I hate this word but "patience" people.
When did Ottens & particulary Fiora get traded last year? At the last minute. No one even really saw the Fiora trade coming 8). Zantuck's muted trade was only speculation too until GM went down the wrong corridor.
I imagine there'd be a stack of confidential work going on behind the scenes that none here would be privy to and that's exactly how it should be.
Leave you judgements and your anxiety until Friday afternoon because it seems to me that's when most of the fireworks occur. Publicly anyway.

TOO, you are a very sensible person.

have faith in Miller, a man that delivered Simmons for Fiora must be respected

there is alot of paperwork involving players ready to go its just a matter of some fine tuning... :clap by all parties....

Given the sort of dollars at stake should we pay for a guide for GM this year?

He should just ask Kevin Sheedy, he's always prepared to tell Greg Miller where to go.

Pagan has not exactly set the world on fire since being at Carlton !It wasn't exactly the addition of youth that improved us this year except for Deledio. It will take a couple more years for any of the other 04 draftees to start influencing games! I agree it is important to hang onto our first pick but i also believe we have plenty of youngsters on the list now.

Surely GM is acting under instruction from TW.
If Terry didn't want Fevola, we would not be involved.
As Claw and others have pointed out does that mean that Terry thinks we are not as bad as most think?
I hope TW is not thinking along these lines.

Games this year against the Stkilda and Adelaide showed/magnified our weaknesses.
Not enough guns in the midfield and defence.

We have shown we have enough goal scorers, it is getting the ball to them quickly and most importantly efficiently/accurately that has been our downfall since 1995.

Yes if there is an opportunity to land a good player get him, but a one dimensional, sometimes lazy and uninterested player like Fevola?
Surely we should be looking long term, not to replace Richo but to develop a watertight defence that will rebound the ball back into our forward 50 at lightening speed and precision.
