Acording to the Age Experts today the best we can hope for is to finish 11th. Grant Thomas...whom I assume is the failed coach of the Saints...has us last. It is Michael Pahoff who claims we don't have enough coming through to sustain the effort of possibly making the eight this year. In other words we are thin on the ground for up and coming recruits.
This is probably true, but which clubs, in Melbourne, can boast a list of potential champions. On cold reflection I guess we have one or two real possible champions for future years in Deledio, Polo, Raines and perhaps Thursfield and Tambling. Apart from Thirsty, no kpp here.
I'm not trying to analyse all our list, just picking out some who could be the nucleous of our future teams. Who knows who may step up, as the saying goes, from our existing list, but most have to be seen as yet. For what i saw last year we have some very good serviceable players, but not the champ class of the Judds, Cousins...(ouch)...LLoyd, Fevola, Tredrea, Hall, Goodes, O'Loughlins of the game. Shoot me down if you will, but that how I read the comments from the so called experts and my slant on our team for this year and next year as well.
