On Rucks, if BLX and now Yinnar (and Rawlings) are saying Gus will be OK, then I'll keep hoping for him. Understand your pessimism DD, but I'll back the others on this one at the moment. ;) ;D

Never thought I would do a Claw...

We will see...we will see.... ;D

I voted ruckman as post Simmons we have a huge gap. We saw what happened in 2007 when he was injured (Tucky rucking was an indictment on the list mangement and recruiting). Both Patto and Gus have question marks over them and Putt is a long termer.

After the ruck we need a full forward. I doubt Hughes will make it (talent does not guarantee success). Other forwards in Riewoldt (CHF), Connors, Morton and Brown as small forwards are decent.

Outside of that I think we have most positions covered with Schulz, Thursfield, Moore, Newman, Raines and Sanchez in defence; Lids, Foley, Cotchin, White, Tambling, Tuck, Johnson, Edwards and Richo in the midfield.

I went for CHF. We just don't have many key forwards on the list:

Riewoldt Not a key forward in my view, too short.
Hughes Has to come on but won't hold my breath.
Putt Who knows, too early. Ruck?
Schulz - No and better at CHB than forward.
Polak - Don't think will play again and not great kick.
Gourdis :'( :'( Thought he was the one!

Not a great line up, and Hughes is the most important one there. If he doesn't lift we are in trouble up forward.

Is it just me or is the CHF a position that matters little in the modern game? If you look at teams like the hawks or the Cats, they have focal targets up forward and a midfield that can deliver to them.

I understand some players float into the forward lines like lucas, ottens, pav etc but the days of the carey type CHF key one on one contest just dont happen anymore.

I feel the midfields have become not just quick kicks long into the forward lines, but clear entries into the 50. It was rarely like this even as little as 10 years ago.

That being said i think ruck ruck and ruck.
