I know this may upset a few.

I'm just going on a bit from Redford's topic.

Being Campbo's last game i thought Richo wasnt fired up enough. Too much chit chat. A few times he could have gone in a just taken out his opponent or any opponent that was in his way.
I know thats not in his makeup and it hard to teach an old dog new tricks but Wallace has kurbed his desire to play on this year and why cant he be taught with his frame , if a player is there to be hit, HIT.

lOOK that last kick out of the sqaure, conditions being what they were, after Simmo's great goal, Richo what about playing in front. Ling took an easy mark. Where was his opponent. The forward line should have been left OPEN.

WE ARE TAUGHT FROM YOUNG, PLAY IN FRONT. conditions such as they were , windy you PLAY IN FRONT........

i HOPE i havent upset many here. Remember i'm not the type to be too critical with our players. I'm even at times quite relunctant to get caught in conversations with who to delist , trade, whatever. I know what changes i would like but i wait till Miller and Wallace decide what is required .

Also i am a big fan of Richo. He has matured as a player but sometimes i wonder about his intesnsity levels. To me this game was his for the taking for his best mate Campbo to win it for him. Arm in arm they walked out but the despair of how close they came to winning and in Campbo's last game was written on the former captains face.

I heard also that Campbo's best mate Daffy spoke to the players.

Does anyone know of this , what he spoke about and if true?

Thanks

A lot of players from both teams were being caught out trying to judge the carry, trajectory and flight of the ball over the course of the day. Not 100% sure who it was, but a geelong player kicked from his defensive line of the square and it ended up rolling out untouched by any about 15m out from the G point post.
Hard call...quick centre break, tricky to get a forward line set-up.

Bairdy just my thought. What i was going on , was not on the whole day, all i was going on was the last centre clearance........."

Agree GT "play in front"....hard call on yesterday due to conditions. We struggle as a team on the concept of kick to space for a leading forward. Thus the constant contested fwd line result

It was just my thought. I guess the dissapointement of getting so close, Campbo's last game, the year as a whole...........i found myself screaming at the t.v, play in front and then that kick out of centre and Ling marks........

Thats all !

Going with the wind & the ball carrying over a lot of players' heads would have made it difficult - not to mention the handful of extra Geelong players that flooded back into defence to ensure we didn't have any space down there. You can't just make a black & white comment like that as there were other factors involved.

It was nothing to do with playing in front. In fact, Richo was in front of Scarlett. Quick kick out of the middle could have landed anywhere, Ling positioned himself best and it fell to him - that's the way it goes.

Zips i understand. As a said /stated earlier this thread may have evolved from a post by Redford re Richo and the desire to farewell Campbo's last game.....

I'm entitled to have a view and say it how i see it.

Totally agree. But as stated, he was in front of his direct opponent. It was the extra players flooding back that took the mark.

Wanted more of a contest.

He held back i feel as Ruicho tends to do. Put a fear of godf into players who are willing to start plonk themselves in fron of him at chf....where was Ling's man?

Anyway its over.
Game lost
Season over
Now for the trades/delsitings/ whatever

AND to next year

Point taken

Re playing in front - Richo was. Scarlett was Richo's man and I didn't see hide nor hair of him in that last centre break - Richo was well out in front of him. What I also didn't see was any pressure on Ling at all by anyone else. In other words who and where was Ling's opponent?

Its easy to pick on someone because their opponent took a possession. I don't know where Cambo was, however, a quick kick out of the centre on a windy day could have just as easily ended up in Cambo's hands somewhere else. Or maybe Geelong played an extra man back on the bounce and different instructions were given to Cambo or whoever to create an extra man at the pack. Too many variables to just pick an instance and call someone to bear without knowing the whole situation.

What I do know is Ling is a great player and knows where to place himself and has averaged over 27 possessions per game in his last 5 games.

Cheers

They actually showed the camera from behind the Richmond goals prior to the last bounce. There was a line of about 8-10 players between the goal line and the centre square. In summary it was a raffle, Richo was in front of his opponent but behind someone elses. Thats the way it goes, at least it went to our forward line.
