Ghost of Punt Road
Tiger Champion
I think it all began with the 'Brett Deledio Cup'.
Both clubs are boasting about how much better they did in the draft than the other, and many hope the other club made the wrong choice.
Personally, one of my best mates is a Hawks supporter, and we decided at the end of last year that since both clubs were in identical rebuilding positions (new coach, captain, youth policy, board elections, low finish...everything) that we would chart exactly all choices and changes both clubs make, every year for five years, to see who in the end made the right choices and who got further up the ladder.
It is interesting data already...and more importantly, so far the Tigers are winning two/nill ;D
For those who want to know:
when you look at the player turnover, the Tigers began their rebuilding one year earlier than the Hawks.
In terms of players recruited in 2003, the Hawks players played 74 games this year (8 players), Tigers players 66 (9 players)
In terms of players recruited in 2004, the Hawks players played 80 games this year (6 players), Tigers players 87 (7 players)
Both teams defence and attack improved in 2005, the Tigers by more in both.
