The big 4 will always be the big 4;
Great effort by Carlton fans !

This just shows you the AFL will ignore the Victorian clubs at their own peril. Pathetic that Adelaide and West Coast are 6th and 8th after dominating the competition. Don't Port Adelaide supporter suck. Grand tradition my arse. We'd be over 1 million if we were performing like a top team. Well done Tiger supporters.

Lets beat Collingwood next year.

Not possible while they have 11 games at the MCG to our 8, and the extras are at the Gabba, Tassie and Perth. They also have Anzac Day, Queen's Birthday and the split round game in Sydney.

Gotta concede their supporters do turn up though.

The big Victorian clubs have always attracted the best crowds. As another poster said the AFL ignore the Victorian clubs at their own peril. If interest drops off here then the game will die.

we also had the second highest home attendances.

COLLINGWOOD: 581,718,average:52,883
RICHMOND: 469,712, average:42,701
ADELAIDE: 467,002, average:42,455
ESSENDON: 465,574, average:42,325
WEST COAST: 448,183, average:40,744

Comeon Richmond hierarchy, get these figures and the figures from last year and the year before etc etc and shove them under Ben Buckleys nose and DEMAND a better draw with less travelling and no home games at the dump!

FFS!

The RFC are extremely fortunate to have such fantastic support after so much heartache on and offield for 25 years.
They owe it to us to get it right!!

You might want to look at the capacities of the ground first.

For goodness sakes. If AAMI sells out with 45,000 people, yet the MCG has 100,000 seats, of course Melbourne sides are likely to have bigger crowds.

Interstate clubs are also brought down by pathetic crowds in places like Tassie/Canberra/ Darwin against traditional powerhouses such as the Kangaroos and Bulldogs.

You can't be such a wet blanket sometimes interested. I can't speak for anyone else here bit of course I'm going to talk positives up, I need to celebrate something. I personally feel the RFC is on the up but there's not much to cheer about at the moment finishing 9th AGAIN and just coming off a 90 point belting that the team has to live with for the next 6 months. You can enjoy the finals supporting Melbourne, I can't. For me this is a Richmond board so I am probably going to get excited about the RFC on occasions. Apart form everything else I have to listen to the doomsayers on this board panic every time Richmond has a loss. OK, so there are reasons for the figures but does the voice of reason always need to so damn logical. Sorry to offend you with my original post. I hope goodness is satisfied.

What a load of rubbish.

Based on your hypothesis, Adelaide should have the largest home attendances.

A terrific year should have seen them with sell out crowds:  45,000 x 11 = 495,000. This figure would have placed them first, yet they are only 3rd.

They obviously do not sell out the stadium, so your theory is flawed.

It actually holds 51,500 but for some reason was never full this year. Even the recent derby only drew 41,000.

Adelaide 795,926 averge per game of 36,178 (win-loss 16-6)

They played a game at Carrara against a low drawing team in Melbourne.

They played the Kangaroos at the Dome - another very low drawing team as an interstate side

They played a poor performing Brisbane at the Gabba (It was easier to get a bigger crowd earlier in the season when the rugby loving fans still had hope)

They only played Collingwood at the Dome, not the MCG, which reduced the crowd.

When in Melbourne, they don't get as large crowds as Victorian v Victorian matches create for obvious reasons.

The reason AAMI is often 'sold out' yet not at capacity is because opposition teams are allocated seats and do not fulfill them - also premium memberships with reserved seats aren't all used. That happens eveywhere.

I'm still not sure how anything RtR has said makes my theory ludicrous.
Fairly simple I'd suggest.
