Attention Darksiders, we have had some bad luck, who knew....

Just out of interest Jimbob, how come you haven't included trading

Donut for what ended up breing Meyer and Patto. And not ultimately luring Fev because his wage was too high?

I only considered items that were genuine bad luck.

Please add to the list:

"That kicking the ball to a team mate's advantage would become important in the modern game"
"That not investing adequately in recruiting or player development in 2004-2007 would hurt our list development"
"Agreeing that 5 year contracts are a good investment: Wallace, Simmonds, Gaspar"

Nonsense. If IanG hasn’t been drafting up a reply this afternoon that smacks this tripe right back over the fence, then I’ll go heave.

Geez I must be getting some kind of rep I don't know about.

Who could have possibly known -

- That the Blues would be penalised draft picks in 2002 and our pick at 4 would eventually become number 2,

- That the national draft that was introduced some 20+ years ago was here to stay,

- That disposal skills would become such an integral part of the modern game

Nobody but Nostradamus could have foreseen such events.

This used to really annoy me too until I realised that it was just as ridiculous to trade pick 4 for Johnson, or whoever it was.

it wasnt long ago most defended the brown and johnson deals to hell with proper recruiting processes was the over riding attitude. if any good has come out of the last 7 and a bit yrs its people are realising there are processes that have to be gone thru and the draft has to be fully utilised. the more who think this way the harder it becomes for the club to take shortcuts and ultimately stuff up.

Yep.

Once again dare i says it.

Here Here Dear Claws.

This joint did not bottom out properly even Brereton said it 2 years ago, that the Tigers have not cut back and re built the list well enough.

Well back to square one they have to go now with at least 14 - 16 of the current list needing to be moved on in next 2 years.

Too many near enuffs, not good enuffs and simply too many VFL level players on the list to be honest. Nowhere near enuff AFL quality kids.

Rance, Cotchin , Riewoldt, Vickery, Deledio, Post are a good starting point to build on though.

It is possible to salvage something from this year.
Cut the coach free now, anyone will do temporarily.
Play man on man football, every one accountable for just one opponent,no zones, kick long towards the hot spot, allow players to be free of artificial restrictions,no more chipping or cheap possies, play those who will give their all no matter their name or reputation, and play with no regrets.
Does not matter the result, cant lose any game more than once.We will all love to see the endeavour. We will all go to watch .We can accept defeat if each player has given their all.
Every player must be decent to have gotten to this level,so lets see them play one on one with their designated opponent.
Their is no certainty that the current style of zoning and switching is the most successfull. In fact ,it is the player quality and endeavour that is most important.
We can have the endeavour as much as Geelong. Smacks of Northey style yes,but at the moment it will do. It can allow a second rate skiils team to match many others for the moment, till our skills develop years later.
What do others think?
It is laughable to see good footballers chip 15 meters sideways.Any one can do that.
I suggest a return to normal football style, accept the outcome without regret, but play like footballers.
So what if we lose every game.Rather do it that way than what we see now.
PS I think Lids is a very good player in a team playing poor football. Not his fault. He can't be everything for everyone.
PPS sorry to say but I told you we would do poorly immediately I saw the Freo game. Style is poor due to coaching.
Note Knights has a team of no namers playing proper football.

. That Patrick Bowden would only ever be good for picking up uncontested possessions across half back

We should have worked out, however, that he had a genetic disposition in this area
