Being on the bottom of the ladder might have something to do with it, of course Carlton aren't much better, but they have *smile* Pratt's money.

Don't we have access to Clinton Casey and Johm Ilham's dough? Not to mention the blokes on the board
John Ilhan is more talk than action IMO.

By the way... regarding the salary cap. Is there anything to stop *smile* Pratt from paying Judd's girlfriend a huge salary for a token position at Visyboard? Hypothetically speaking, let's say she gets put on the books as a 'marketing consultant' for $300,000. Would the AFL then have any course of action in penalising Carltank for salary cap breaches or would they get away with this?

The ATO might be interested.

Can he just walk out on them and go into the PSD, or can West Coast trade him to any team they want to even though he's out of contract?

Judd holds the upper hand. He doesn't have to go anywhere he doesnt want to and can simply walk to richmond for free.

That would be amazing, please Juddy ;D

I dont know much about the draft system but if Juss can walk to a club for free, it would be Melbourne, not RFC, after all, he supported them before being drafted, however, I still think he'll end up at Collingwood.

She'd probably have to do alot more than 'marketing' for that kind of money.

How would he get to Melbourne for free? There are two picks in the PSD before theirs and ours is the first!!

I like Harry's idea mentioned in a previous thread. Tell the Eagles we're giving serious consideration to giving them picks 2, 18 and Deledio and then stall all week so he goes into the PSD. Love it :hihi :hihi

And something like this could happen too. I can't remember a trade where two first-rounders were used to get a player, apart from Ottens, and we had PSD1 that year for leverage. WC don't have any such advantage.

Most of the high profile trades have been for a 1st and a 2nd rounder or a 1st rounder and a player.

Picks 2 and 5 are the ones that can get the job done for a club. Maybe Richmond and the Bulldogs can get together and package them both for the highest bidder and split the booty between them? Make it some kind of Chris Judd all-inclusive trade deal- available to anyone who wants to play. After all, if one caves the other has nothing. That would really be power!

Of course, the Tigers would then have to pull the pin at the last moment and use the PSD anyway.

This could be the most fascinating trade week ever, esp if the total number of trades at the end of the week is zero.

On Carlton being unable to trade selection #1 that may be the case.

It's not an AFL rule as such. We know that it's not against the rules. But most of you will recall that the AFL vetoed the payout of Pagan earlier in the year.

Once you're a basket case, as Carlton has been (still is), that is, once you've accepted the AFL dole, they retain a right to intervene in the running of the club.

So it's possible, because Carlton has received AFL money, that the uber-president of the club Andrew Demetriou has vetoed the trade.

OTOH if Pratt has fully bailed them (and that might mean paying back the AFL money- unlikely?) they may be free agents again.

There is no rule against trading priority pick.
Carlton are just ruling themselves out of trading it because they went through a lot of trouble tanking to get it.

You watch, Carlscum will put pick 1 on the table if they have to.

Yep, if you seriously wanted Judd, then offering your number 1 pick would seem like a logical thing to do. Especially considering they'd still potentially have 3rd pick.
