Because he has the penchant for giving away tons of free kicks in the backline. He runs himself into trouble a lot. He gets tackled a lot and gets caught for holding the ball. His disposal is average when it's on-song, and poor when he's not. He's easily outmarked in the backline.

I can go on but I think I've made my point. He's a real goer, he's got a huge heart and I reckon he'd bleed for the other 21 guys each week, but he's limited talentwise and we need better.

Reckon that about covers it.

MB64 even put his neck on the chopping block and backed King to the hilt.....c'mon he's your chance again to tell us about how good he's going to be.

Free kicks? Averaged 1.29 free kicks given away per game, compared to Kelvin Moore 1.14, McGuane 1.12, Thursfield 1.33. So to put this in perspective less than Thursfield and 1 free kick more every 6 games against the others. He is also 1st in free kicks for in fact 2.3 frees per game compared to 1.4 the next player. Outmarked in the backline, well there's a revelation for a little man. He certainly doesn't have the best disposal but on the flip side he is tough at the ball and is 2nd for average bounces per game (provides plenty of run), 6th in average tackles and 4th in average 1%ers. You have to look at all aspects when making judgement not just pick on the weaknesses.

King is certainly a tradeable option as we do have options in that position but I still think people have been extra harsh on him this year. Didnt quite come back the same player after injury and unsure whether he had recovered adequately.

Never recovered from his flirtation with media street.
But a low key Jake could be back to his 2007 form next year.

You get a bit of moaning o PRE about David Rodan. On balance we should have kept him. But he's no star.

But David Rodan has a talent. In my time I have never seen surer hands at full speed at lawn height. Sure, he's dumb. But that doesn't change the talent. Lawn height. Full speed. David Rodan. Find one better.

Jake King is a total genius between lawn and ankle. And he gets there. When right he is a genius at this loose ball game. The other bloke is waiting for the bounce. Jake is gone at the half volley.

Some say that the only skill in the game is kicking the footy into a can and it has been proven beyond doubt that Joel Bowden is the best in the comp at this. But I think there are other skills. Call me a radical.

Jake King is a loose ball freak.

Further to this you know that Kevin Bartlett and Leigh Matthews played on each other quite a bit, eh? Bartlett was a loose ball freak. Maybe the genius of the past 50 years. And Matthews is a contested ball legend.

But here's the rub. It's loose until somebody else gets there. Then it's contested. Leigh Matthews got some powerful hidings from Bartlett.

How you use it is one thing. How you get it is the main thing. If you can't get it the rest is academic. You're not an academic are you?

Loose is gold.

Bit of a waste though Skip?

A mate of mine in Adelaide reckons Meyer has the surest marking hands you have ever seen. I haven't seen that much of him (who has?) but rather than focussing on his pace, maybe we should look to use Danny's marking to find out if he is AFL standard. BPs don't really need to mark. Maybe HFF?

Even if King doesnt play, the way he applies himself at training is setting an example to every1 on our list. He is the kinda guy u want on ur team because u know for the entire game he will just keep on trying. Round 1 this year he dominated, pretty sure he got votes in the brownlow, not bad for ya 1st game!
No doubting his not a player to build your team around, a fringe player, but a hard little nugget of a fringe player that will give u 110% without a doubt!
White played well as our defensive forward, meyer mite come into that position if his got a good set of hands on him, but will he chase and tackle like whitey?

Don't know about that one. Meyer would be very luckly to stay on the list, let alone take a spot in the side.

I was young at the time and obviously biased, but I thought of Bartlett as being a better player than Matthews at the time

His form late in the season for Coburg saved his skin. All we needed was signs that he,s overcome his hip injury. He achieved that.He will stay

King has shown more than Hartigan ever did. Finished the season labouring under injury. Is no rock star but is a solid contributor. Will be back next season and will play his role. Shows more guts and determination than most at the RFC.

I love King's competitive endeavour. At times this year he seemed to be the only one flying the flag.

Unfortunately his decision making isn't great, nor is his disposal. Not a great combination coming out of defence.

In saying that - I prefer him over Hartigan.

Don't forget, a GF sprint winner :cupgold
