Backroom Changes at Punt Road ?

There was the intimation that there would be a Head of Recruiting sort of role. What does that mean for Francis ?

Re: RFC Group Dynamics

Do we know what Crowe Lovett did 2-3 years ago when they were employed to advise the club?

Re: RFC Group Dynamics

Without knowing exactly, I'd say they probably did something similar.

But that was 2-3 years ago. The dynamic changes within an organisation over that time.

I know that with one very major interstate govt organisation that we're working with, they've done MLQ360s with they're leaders in early 2006, they're currently testing the same group with a new set of MLQ360s, and they are going to measure the variation in dynamics with a CLR = Comparative Longitudinal Report.

Funny, you know,
We've been working with the number one car company in the world, incidentally the major sponsor of the AFL, helping them to become #1 over a few years, yet some here think that we're above all of this.

I think it's a marvellous opportunity for the RFC.

I ask, who needs the reality check?

Re: RFC Group Dynamics

I reckon with the clear lack of on field leadership that something like you suggest is vital.

I'm with you Phantom! It is such forward thinking, and planning, that is vital to the long term success of any organisation. And by harnessing new methods, especially those that have been established to such an extensive degree, can the mighty RFC make up ground in an area we have instant, and total, control over.

After reading the lamenting of PRE'ers myself included, with regards to how far ahead Adelaide, West Coke etc etc are, I would think everyone would be excited to see such structures put in place at the RFC... for both 2007 and beyond. For it is only when we work together, as a complete unit, that we can expect the successes (both short and long term) that we all desire to happen - compared to years of seeming haphazardness.

So Phantom, what kind of discount can you get the club? ;D

All imo of course :)

Gary March continues to impress getting TW to concentrate on coaching & less of his media spinning, also looking at the recruiting area which is sadly lacking.

No offense Phantom, but I'd rather have all these guy's focusing their energies at meeting their KPI's first, before finding the time to complete fashionable MLQ's.

With respect Skills, KPIs form what is known as "CR" and belongs to the "Transactional". It is mostly used to keep "middle management" in line & is a minor part of Tranformational Leadership.

Great leaders get into the 5 factors I listed above. KPIs are a statistical measurement only.

An extremely good one.
Like all of you, I love the RFC.
If it was my business, I'd give it free. It's not, so I can't.

But I can organise for these to be provided at a "very" reasonable cost.

Bring it on Phantom - I think the RFC will benefit by undergoing some serious self-analysis.

From what I saw lastnight (Gary March) there were some significant points

1) Leadership group is increasingly getting frustrated by the number of roles TW portrays - other than coaching the senior group.
2) Greg Miller relying on reputation - his unmasking of talent at the Kangaroo's in the 90's won't continually be a valid reason for being a predominant member of our recruiting department. He needs help.
3) Gary March has identified these issues and will act accordingly. Terry and the coaching staff - you will face a serious re-evaluation at the end of your contract
4) Like any organisation - employees need to be evaluated on performance and must be made accountable - and be rewarded as such.

We'll be ok - let the kids play.

I dont believe this...we loose a game by 157 pts and all of a sudden PRE becomes the McKinsey Home page. :hihi

Yes, I just watched it too.

Just a bit worried that the head of the organisation might be going into panic mode.

Keep a steady head Gary.

Remember the 5 key factors of great leaders.

1. Trust
2. Integrity
3. Inspire
4. Innovative thinking
5. Coaching others

There are other factors as important.

6. Decisive
7. Cool head under pressure. A steely resolve.
8. Adaptive
9. Can deal with ambiguity.

As said previously,

I'd like to do the following:

An MLQ360 on each of Wallace, Wright, Miller & Johnson

An MLQ Self-rating test on each of the juniors.

An MLQ Team each of the Leadership groups.

And an ODQ on the whole RFC organisation.

Just might paint a very enlightening picture.

I could arrange it for a cut price too. ;)

I agree that some sort of group dynamic analysis and other forms of psych assessment would be great, but not sure about the MLQ - it doesn't look appropriate. A quick look at their website suggests that it isn't designed for, or used with, sports teams. It is always erroneous to draw any conclusions from the use of measures that are normed on inappropriate populations.

I'm sure, however, that there are sports appropriate measures. Just involve a quality sports psych.
