PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

From what I have seen the whole football club is behaving like any other business organisation undergoing a major restructure.
Much like employees act when change in iminent - you get employees who stand up and deal with the situation, however you also get a large group who throw their arms in the air (like they just don't care). This is what happend on Sunday.

The Gaspar "sacking" during the week was a clear sign from Wallace that he will play the kids - what does that say to the rest of the organisation? How does that affect other "senior" employees? When decisions like this are made - employees stop thinking about the company (teamates)- and start thinking about themselves. That is clearly what is happening.

Wallace gave an opportunity to the senior playing group two years ago - and they have let him down. He has now at a point where he has given last chances to Krak/Tivendale/Gas etc.... and he'll probably give it to a few more in the next 16 weeks.....

Let's have some hope in the fact that although Wallace could have done this two years ago - he is now culling the list and the hard decisions are finally being made (we just sacked a 200+ All-Aus Full-Back mid-year...!!).

We as supporters need to understand that our core group of players are around 20-22 years old, and much like any organisation - they will make mistakes, they'll have success, and they'll get flogged occasionally. The group dynamics at the Richmond Football Club will improve once every employee (player) knows where they stand.

The Gaspar one-year deal was an insurance policy if we challenged for finals - we will clearly not do this, so Wallace has culled accordingy. Even he has changed his
outlook for 2007. His downfall was giving the senior playing group too much responsibility/time at the start of 2005 (and not bottoming out like Hawthorn has done).

Over the past 25 years I can count around 4-5 "rebuilds" - give Wallace the rest of his contract with the clear vision (kids) and I am sure things will turn around.

BTW - the performance of Nathan Foley on Sunday should not be forgotton - his endeavour did not change throughout that whole game. Potential leader.
