Barlett Wants Sheedy - SEN (Merged)

With Sheedy's love for Hennaman (sp?) and his topping up of the list with Camporeale, Murphy, Mal Michael etc, we can expect to see JON, Schulz, Sanchez and other list cloggers kept on the list and drafted if he gets the job.

Say no to Kevin, like he said no to Richmond so many times.
HEAR HEAR :clap :clap

Sheedy absolutely loved one D Meyer also. Wanted him very badly.

I tell you he is very dangerous.

You thought Wallace was a control freak well this guy invented the term.

"SO HIRDY wants to be a coach, does he? The jungle drums keep beating that he is keen to make the transition, and, if you…"

Gotta admit, this is the first real proof I've read that a Sheedy / Hird ticket is in fact a possibility. That both are now willing means a union is not out of the question with Knighter getting an mooted extension. Initially, this was my dream outcome, now it is looking more and more do-able :hearton

Also in that quoted section wasn't Sheedy talking about Super Coach?

How funny hey lads, the exact thing I was saying after the debacle against Carlton to you when the lights went down, is suddenly happening at a rate of knots.

Do not know what to think, need time to get around all this......

Now you know why I was so against Sheedy being a caretaker. We would loose to Saints regardless, but I imagine he would be able to squeeze out more wins than Jade. I find it amusing some think there is pressure on our process now...this is nothing compared to if Sheedy picked up some wins in the last half of the season as you know he would be busting for to get the main gig :hihi

Sheedy has KB, St Francis and T-Shirt Tommy's backing hey..........well good news is that I now know what people talk about while waiting for the Tuesday night BINGO numbers to be read out.

Whats wrong with you all - Sheeds has an excellent coaching record, he is tough uncompromising and just what we need now. I would create him as Senior Coach with Junior Coach to take the reigns in 2-3 years, under Sheedys mentoring.
The fact is we have not had the talent at Richmond, the gameplan, the skills, etc etc
You blame Sheedy for recycling but you do not know what the Essendon recruiters were going after. They had their fair share of duds recently.

:clap well said.

IMO also...

Knights coached the VFL affiliate team at EFC and the transition was easy. Many were surprised outside EFC but they are now reaping the rewards.

I would luv RFC do something similar but they actually prepare with 1 appointment cover both for short & long term gains.

Maybe the successor(s) to Sheedy (eg assistants he surrounds himself with) be given a rotation to run our affiliate team Coburg. Structered like this. Each junior coach appointed as head coach for a year at Coburg with another assistant helping as well. Practice, learn and prepared to take over the reins as senior coach of RFC in the long term.

If Sheedy has brought success and continues to do the role he gains 1-2yr extensions.

p.s. :hihi got this half right awhile ago (from changes for the Melb game thread)

If KB really wanted the best for the club, he would allow the current Board to go through the necessary processes in order to get the best coach. If that happens to be Sheedy, all well and good. By launching a campaign through the media, he is undermining the club.

Sheedy would know expressions of interest in the coaching job are required by July 3, so all he needs do is contact the appropriate person at the club. If he presents the best out of all the candidates, he'll get the gig.

Simples.

I must admit when Bartlett talks about '50,000 members' if Sheedy came to Richmond it does make it tempting, especially after what has been a miserable season. It would firmly re-establish Richmonds claim to being one of the superpowers of the AFL. And with success God only knows how high it could climb. Having said that, I would only want him as a development coach. There would be tremendous hype and euphoria, and Sheedy could easily see himself as a White Knight, and in Walletesque fashion might be tempted for quick fixes and short-cuts to effect a rapid rise up the ladder. That would have to be avoided at all costs.

Interestingly I think Buckley has not discounted an assistant coaching role (he did indicate it during a recent interview). A Sheedy/Buckley combination at a new club might be tempting to him. If he is serious about learning to coach, what better person to assist after playing under Malthouse than a master like Sheedy. With a pedigree like that, irregardless of whether he succeeded Sheedy or not, he would have a magnificent launching pad to senior AFL coaching. Not 100 percent sold on the idea yet, but if it came with someone of exceptional calibre as an assistant it would have to be seriously looked at.

You know what? Since I became a member 14 years ago, I promised myself that I would never tear up my Richmond membership as long as I can afford it, and as long as we stay a Melbourne based club. But I think I have just found my breaking point... and that is Kevin Sheedy being appointed as Richmond coach.

Footy for me right now is bloody depressing. Infact never in my life have I been so disinterested and disenchanted with the game and the direction the RFC is heading. Sheedy as coach might be the straw the broke the camels back. The thought makes me sick to the stomach. I am praying Gary March nips this in the bud. He needs to come out today and put us terrified supporters as ease by saying "Sheedy will not be in the running for the richmond coaching position."

KB, Tommy Hafey, Francis Bourke are a bunch of silly old buggers who think they know whats best for the club. They have no idea and they're only giving their old mate some misguided momentum that is not helping the club. While Sheedy was successful at Essendon, he can't do the same for us. He's turned into a senile old man who has no idea on modern philosophies.

To the Sheedy supporters out there, it's amazing how quickly you forget... Don't you remember he tried the quick fix at Essendon with disastrous results? He recycled players such as Allan, Murphy, Camporeale, etc. How well did they go? He also took Ty Zantuck because he sees himself as a person who can resurrect troubled players. And don't forget he had his project players he kept at Essendon for years on end… and it didn't matter how crap they were (Mark Bolton anyone?)

If Sheedy gets the RFC job he'll probably retain the olds farts such as Richo and Brown, and might hold onto the duds such as McDud, JON, King etc. To make matters worse, he may even consider recruiting someone like Barry Hall as his latest pet project.

As for the people who believe Sheedy built Essendon's current list, I say that's a load of crap. It was Adrian Dodoro who recruited their current crop of kids. And while Sheedy was there, he didn't play the kids as often as he should have because he was coaching for his career. Knights got rid of Johnston, Bradley, Ramanakas, Bolton, etc. He also had the balls to drop Lucas and McVeigh this year. Would Sheedy have done that?

While I do believe Gary March has no real interest in giving Sheedy an interview, we all know how influential us supporters can be. Remember it was our overwhelming support that got Cousins to Richmond last year. I'm terrified that if the supporters get sucked into the belief that "Sheedy is our Saviour," the groundswell of support will make the jungle drums beat towards Sheedy's tune, which will turn into a the biggest media sh!t storm of all time. So big that the RFC hierarchy might not be able to fight it. Gary March, do the right thing and end this right now!!!

Modern Philosophies...no such thing.
Read Nietche & Montagne - all will be revealed.
Nothing is new, history always repeats.

I think the tiges need Sheeds (see experience) to sort the joint out.
I don't think a young up and comer to handle the expectation / pressure involved.

I think the coach aspect of Sheedy's appointment is secondary. We need much more than a game plan. We need to reinstate the pride and the soul of the club. Walls, Wallace, Jeans - all came with good coaching credentials, but its the heart and soul of the club that needs resuscitating.

Sheeds can do this - I don't think a young coach can.

I read a week ago that Bartlett wanted Malthouse.

Wish Bartlett would make up his mind.
