Barlett Wants Sheedy - SEN (Merged)

3AW tonight was essential listening for all of those thinking Kevin Sheedy is the answer to our prayers. The unanimous consesus was that the game has well and truly passed him by. In his final years at Ess the players found him completely unprepared, outdated and out of touch with what the opposition were doing. From a preparation, communication and understanding of the modern game, Knights was streets ahead according to key Ess players.

Who cares if he would draw in members, we need a coach not a circus performer.

Please no!
Spent a lot of time doing other things and left his assistants to run the programs then turned up on matchday expecting to coach football while all the other clubs were playing basketball crap.

Wouldn't complain if Sheeds was mentoring and guiding an inexperienced coach for twelve months, but not to keen on having him take control of the circus that is RFC.

I agree with Sheeds going through the interview process (yes, there's that word again), but what I don't understand is when people use the argument that he would sell a lot of memberships next year - what is more important, wins or memberships?

Yes, more funds coming into the club is always a good thing but the thing to remember with Richmond is:

Win games, & they will come.

the AW discussion was a good one.

very worrying the near consensus on him arriving at matches gameday with some players still not knowing their role

hard for a player to prepare properly now if he's on tenderhooks till the 11th hour

The interview process is easy. One question.

"Will you keep Jay *smile* ?"

If the answer is "Yes" show him the door..... NEXT

21 31 yr olds? Glad you are not the list manager then.

Back to Bartlett. Yes he wanted Malthouse.
I actually agreed with that.

He is 6 years younger than Sheeds and his eyes still burn brightly.
Still heavily involved in the game he continues to get great results out of that Pies list.

Bartlett should of backed his initial thoughts and left it at that.
KB would still be pushing for Malthouse if he was available. Its prety clear to the football world that malthouse is safe at the Pies for another 2yrs.

Exactly

Who cares what Ol Hungry wants.
We have a "Process" that we need to go through before we appoint our new coach.
Sure Sheedy go ahead and apply and if youre considered after the process the best one for the job. We just have to accept it.
Personally Id go for Sheeds as a mentor and have Hird as our coach.

Whats wrong with you all - Sheeds has an excellent coaching record, he is tough uncompromising and just what we need now. I would create him as Senior Coach with Junior Coach to take the reigns in 2-3 years, under Sheedys mentoring.

whats wrong with you? totally lost it.

why do people think a 2-3 year short term role with a succession plan is a realistic option? sheedy or anyone else would wanna see it through til the end

I think Sheeds is the perfect fit for us. We pride ourselves on giving people on last chance at resurecting a career.

Cousins, Knoble, Graham, Campbell, Wallace, Howatt, King, JON, P. Bowden, McMahon

yep

For you to call Kevin, Tommy and Bourkey a bunch of silly old buggers, and your the one disparaging them on the internet, (they at least have put it out there in name), I know who is the real silly bugger.

They, you say are the ones with no idea? They'd have more footy ideas in their pinky than you and I together (and you need to put in more ;D ). They are closer to the game than we will ever be.

Come on, argue on the merit of the ideas, sure, but not by put down of Tiger Legends >:(

they're dinosaurs. if they want the best for the club they would let the club follow the proper process, not throw hail mary's thats only gonna things make things more complicated

isn't that what i'm arguiung?

Here's the perfect KB Scenario
We appoint Sheedy for two years and then when Malthouse is released we pick him up for three!

Lets face it we are in trouble for more than a couple of years (due to the new teams) and I don't think a young coach is going to do squat. We need a coach who can increase the professionalism of the players and develop their potential, while remaining current with today's style changes. That's all. We need someone who can turn coal into diamonds or if not diamonds then at least into jet.

If that is an old coach then fine, if its not, fine. Hopefully "the process" will look properly at that.

Caro on 3AW is "staggered" that Sheedy has put up his hand for the coaching job at Richmond.

She also makes the good point that if he doesnt get the job next year it will be uncomfortable at Tigerland if he continues in his current role (whatever the *smile* that is ::) ).

process people process.

Craig Cameron and the football department should set the agenda and outline what's required to rebuild the list, not the other way round. If sheeds and bartlett think sheeds doen't need to go through the process then he can seek the ws job.

So, has the meeting taken place?
If so, can anyone disclose in brief form (obviously don't expect verbatim transcript) how long meeting lasted, what was discussed?
Understand, they are going through the process, but are March and Cameron etc interviewing Sheeds properly or is it just a token meeting with no bearing on the overall picture?
(BTW, I'm NOT saying Sheeds is the man for the job)
If anyone in the know could update the brotherhood, would appreciate!

Sheeds last seen revving up his car and yelling I will show you...Im going to Mars to draft some of their youngsters.
