Barlett Wants Sheedy - SEN (Merged)

Its all about the process people. If the club sticks to it then whoever they appoint should be supported.

For years we have wanted sheedy back,he may just bring a certain J.Hird into the tiger fold to become the next tiger coach not to mention more memberships to the club.Go for it .

I think he is talking about our home game on the Gold Coast this week!!

Agree the process must be followed including Sheedy's willingness to go through it.

Bartlett is stirring this up excessively now. He's making it hard for the club to stick with the process. For example, if Buckley proves to be the best candidate through the interview/evaluation process, Bartlett is stirring the masses up so much that the new coaches job will be very difficult. Not only will he be taking on a club with a poor list, he'll be having to combat negatives about his appointment over Sheedy.

Bartlett's said his piece, he should just let the process now take place. If Sheedy proves to be the best person for the job, then so be it. To just appoint him now would smack of the Wallace decision back in 2004 and we all know how that turned out!!

Agree totally.
March should come out and put Kevin back in his box. 'He is entitled to his opinion etc'
Stick to the process.

As I live in a third world country where there is a process for everything and a outcome for nothing I don't share some of PRE's fairh in process. But still if you go to all the trouble of outlining a super detailed process publicly you should follow it, and I'm confident they will.

Well said.

Disappointed with all the newspaper hoohaa about Sheedy today.

If Sheedy genuinely wants the job, then why is a public declaration required? Why do you need to trot out Bartlett, using his friendship and media influence? Why not apply for the job along the structure for this that club has unfolded? Doesn't he back himself with his 14 wins a season and 4 flags to come out of a proper process as the best candidate. Sheedy knows that this puts pressure on the club now and this can only mean a backlash if Sheeds isn't picked. That's bad for the club - he and Bartlett should know better.

And look, I'm a known skeptic when it comes to anything to do with Bartlett, but I've had it up to pussy's bow with this little twerp. He runs a 20yr dummy spit because he was sacked from a job he failed in, walks back in expecting all to be forgiven - and it was, and then decides he's so bloody wonderful that he's prepared to help ... oh that's right, only if we give his best mate a $700k a year job and preclude him from the arduous task of actually applying for it! FFS - who does this bloke think he is?!

I've admired Craig Cameron's dedication to getting the blessed "process" right so far even when I've disagreed with its outcome in recent tiger history. I hope he is resolute enough to withstand Mike Sheahan's predicted mobilising of the Tiger Army's blind passion to get Sheedy back in. I hope the board sufficiently backs him to do so. People power - pfft! We've fallen for grabbing the shiny gold ring in the past - Wallace, Walls and even back to Jeans and Jewell's 2nd reign. This isn't about marketing, memberships and money any more - we actually go ok in those areas. The problem is our footy team/dept (and those who continually are drafted/recruited to be in it) are RUBBISH!!!! Tiges - PLEASE get this appointment right.

I have confidence (however midguided it may be) that we will stick to the process. If, by the end of it Kevin Sheedy is deemed to be the right fit, then so be it.

I think the selection of assistants will be almost as important as the head job (pardon the pun).

now that is piffle

That there is a "perception" out there?

Whether you agree with it or not, there WAS a perception when Kevin left Essendon that the list wasn't in good shape.

I can fully see you supporting the "Get Kevin" brigade. Imagine the 1000's of posts you can rack up sooking when he drafts a Kepler Bradley in the 1st round ;)

in the week that you have sold our soul interstate, do us all a favour Gary and nip this in the bud... come out today and say "sheedy will not be coaching richmond." do not let the momentum take hold!!!!

This is what i'd like to see happen. If they really have no intention of giving him the job, they must come out and make it clear to the members that Sheedy will not be coach.

Richmond took the week off and allowed the Gold Coast to play a game 2 years early.

That's what happened.

Summed it up pretty well there Phil.
Sheedy has nothing to lose.Give him 3yrs.He has the balls to turn around our Culture. In the meantime mentor one of the assistants to take over in 2013.

Surprised people are alarmed or excited by this, hold onto your hats people there is A LOT more of the same to come.

Personally, I am glad to see Sheedy in the process. If we have included him then it truly is "exhaustive" as they say considering they ruled him out previously so decisively from having anything to do with the football department (as they should have).

If Sheedy has applied it is good to see he is hungry and keen, it's the only way he could even be considered for the job. I wouldn't be too quick to call him a messiah for our club and I certainly wouldn't be too quick to rule him out IF he is hungry and super keen. There is no harm in keeping an open mind.

Survival of the fittest I say, put all the candidates through the meat grinder and see who is the last one standing. Regardless of age, outsider perception and romance the coach must be decided on vision, communication, presence, ability to develop players, stratgeic nous and their ability to address and improve our culture and what the football department stands for.

Given our poorish list and the upcoming draft concessions preventing a quick rebuild, Sheedy's experience and lateral thinking might be a asset that young coaches don't have.

I'm warming to the succession plan!

OK, so the desirted outcome to appease everyone would be Sheedy as Director of Coaching, Malthouse as Headcoach, Bucks, Hird, Hardwick, Hinkley, McKenna as Assistants. Where do we slot matthews in ?

If there is one thing Sheeds knows it is how to survive
