PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Hawthorn seem to have a surplus of tall forwards at the moment and rumor has it they may be willing to trade one of their talented young players to fill other gaps on their list. The name I’ve heard bandied about is Beau Dowler, who was taken at pick 6 in the 2005 draft, and apparently the Tigers have expressed interest in doing a trade.

It makes sense for Hawthorn to do a trade because they won’t be able to fit all those talented KPPs on the forward line in the future; Franklin, Thorp, Roughead, Dowler – you can’t have that many talls playing out of the forward 50 because they’ll be too top heavy.

As I said, Dowler’s name has been bandied about. I remember Greg Miller was very keen to draft him in 2005 but Hawthorn got in before us.

Would anyone be interested and would you be prepared to give up for him?

I certainly wouldn’t be willing to trade pick 2 but maybe a package deal that consists two of the following:

Oakley-Nicholls
Edwards
Meyer
Pick 18
Pick 19

Hawthorn won’t be interested in Meyer and possibly Oakley-Nicholls but they’d look at the others.
