Before the Bounce tonight

Why is everyone in love with this Hardwick character.

Totally unproven and not worth the risk.

Not saying to definately go an unproven coach as leysy thinks Malthouse would be excellent for us for where we're at.

But the past 4 premiership coaches were at there first club RT.....

There will be three premiership coaches for sale at years end.

Matthews, Malthouse and Williams.

We need one of these.

RT.

I agree with your opinion Tommy and I would rather go for Malthouse, Williams, then Matthews, in that order. The most important factor in selecting our next coach must be experience and steer right away from the untried crop. There is something special about this experienced lot compared to Wallace and the untried.

Rainsy,

I'm with you all the way on this one.

I'm sorry if I mislead you, because the names I put up, are not in any preference order.

I would dance in the streets if we could land any one of them.

Hardwick's still an unknown.

Leysy has a good point, that untried coaches have had a good history of success in recent years.

However, these clubs have not had a 27 year history like us.

We need help and we need experience.

One of these three experienced coaches may provide this.

RT.

Melthouse ? Too old for a major project like Richmond. Besides, nobody can understand a word he's talking about nowadays.

Pass.

It would be very entertaining to watch Mick coach our rabble. We'd get to see this pretty much every quarter. :clap

I would like to see Malthouse as coach for sure. He seems to get the most out of ordinary players - and he wont accept insipid performances. The players wont get a free ride with Mick. What a refreshing change. Accountable players - I'd like to see that!

;D ;D

I know every coach handles their emotions differently, but Plough looks like he's at a call centre most of the time. Bored to snores, occasionally jabbering into the hand piece.

Looks like the Malted Milk one gets the nod from most on here. Did anyone else see his interview on about 2 weeks ago, when he was a guest on the Foxtel show...On the Couch. He made a lot of sense when talking about coaching and the methods he uses.

He is getting on in years, that's for sure, but at least he is an ex Tiger was a fearless backman and knows the caper. We could do worse....if he wanted the job of course.

Malthouse still has the passion. I can imagine he can still be a firebreather if required.

You do not see many Pies players taking short steps and not going when its their turn. Connors would be playing at Coburg until at least July if Mick was coaching.

Its a hard game and the best leaders are hard men.

Was at the college lawn in Prahran last night, Liam Pickering was in there. Before the bounce was on, a show he is a regulat panelist on. I think it would be fair to say he wouldn't have even known it was on. He didn't for a moment even acknowledge that it was on. Felt a bit silly looking at the screen every now & then considering he didn't give a crap about it!
Also Hutchy, showed up & they left together, so that may be where alot of the 'scoops' originate.

This begs the question?? Why would he want to coach the Tigers next year, apart for financial reasons?? What would he see that inspires him to take the job if offered? I remember Nathan Buckley, when asked on TV if he would like to coach them said "why would anyone want to coach Richmond." May not be his exact words, but near enough.

I'm a little surprised by your question (rather than wishing to debate the merit of his potential appointment).

(a) He's from Richmond
(b) A huge challenge (the Coach who eventually gets us up will achieve demi-god status)
(c) Limited opportunity - quite simply their are only 16 premier jobs in the industry. I watched the game last night and saw a forlorn Tim Watson walking the boudary talking to players after the game!! Has he no pride?? One minute your an AFL coach the next you're a loser in a raincoat!!!

Of cource Mick would have reasons for taking the job.

How passionate/hungry he would be is a legitimate question - but I'm pretty confident he'd do a better job than Terry ;)

PS - who really cares what Nathan Buckley says. Champion footballers in mediocre teams are a dime a dozen - and he is merely another voice in the pack. :blah

I often wonder how much this means to these people or how important it is to them. He hasn't been at Richmond since 1983- 26 years. The people who "made" the club back then are no longer there. I wonder whether there really is any emotional pull or not. Who knows, he may consider himself more a St.Kilda person.

Not having a go Sir, but just posing the question.
