Ben Johnson you Maggot!

if it had been Pickett, he'd have got life.

Johnson should never have played as he smacked Jackson in the face behind the play and the dog got off.

hope Johnson gets 5-6 to fit the crime.

If he gets anything less than 5 weeks off then the whole thing is a joke. Looking at youtube and he had time to change his mind but he watched Bell bent over and lined him up.

Cowardly dog act.

Has been offered 6 weeks if he takes an early plea.

The 26-year-old has been charged with ‘bumping or making forceful contact to an opponent from front-on when that player has his head over the ball’. The offence was categorised as reckless conduct (two points), severe impact (four points) and high contact (two points), resulting eight activation points and a classification level five offence.

That resulted in 750 base demerit points and a seven-match sanction. Johnson has 70.31 existing carry-over points from a striking charge from round 19, increasing the total demerit points to 820.31 and an eight-week ban.

An early guilt plea reduces the suspension by 25 per cent to 615.23 points and a six-week ban, ending his 2007 season even if Collingwood plays four finals, including the grand final.

Seems reasonable.

Refer www.afl.com.au

I think that's what I said

Would've preferred 'intentional' rather than 'reckless', but am content as long as the penalty's not watered down on appeal.

Love how the story's not on the main page of the AFL site. Anything to avoid making the sport look unpalatable in any way.

ON SEN they discussed the fact that if it had been intentional it would have been referred to the tribunal direct without any penalty. The implication was that they deliberately made it reckless take it out of the tribunal's hands. But Collingwood will undoubtedly take it to the tribunal anyway.

How could it not be intentional, ah well, I'll cop the 6. IS it right that it will be 8 if he goes before the tribunal and loses?

I'm tipping they will - is there chance for a downgrade in any other category?

6 or 8 doesnt matter either is a good result and will cost him the Finals.

Too bad, so sad, BYE BYE :wave

Roe deserves to be let off! Both going for the balll he turned at the last second so he didnt get knocked out ala Chris HYde vs Matt McGuire

Spot on JB he lined him up and took him out. He had eyes only for the man. How could it be anything other than intentional. I think the AFL needs to have a serious look at what the legal defnition of reckless is.......

That's the problem with the system, it's been designed by a lawyer and is mired in jargon. It all comes down to semantics really.

As much as I hate the tribunal and the way they judge things, I think they got the Roe/Johnson bumps spot on.

Johnson made no attempt to go the ball and had Bell lined up for three or four steps and hit him with a hip and arm tucked in.

Roe was attacking the ball and was a fraction of a second late with his body going down to get the ball made the contact becuase he was late, reckless yes but not intentional.
