Best 22 - Pick Your Team Here (Merged)

what i would love to see for the rest of the season

Back: Raines Thursfield Newman
Half B: Rance McGuane Moore
Centre: Deledio Cotchin Richardson
Ruck: Graham Foley Cousins
Half F: Morton Riewoldt Nahas
Full F: Hughes Schulz Pattison

Inter: Tambling, Oakley-nicholls, White, Coughlan
Emer: Collins, Browne, Connors

would love to see us play a tall forward structure and always play long direct hard footy with the crumbers at their feet. Schulz/hughes/pattison will not be long term forward targets but thats where this post season we really need to target some big marking talls in the draft and or trade, backs and middle i think were right.

I find it amazing that Richmond supporters on here leave Nathan Brown out of there side ??? Yeah his form isn't too good at the moment but on his day is a matchwinner. Wouldn't of thought he will be left out when he is fit and ready to comeback. I think a few people on here are quick to jump off our gun players when they have a couple of average games.

You've gotta be kidding!!!! Nathan Brown has not done a thing since he had his broken leg. Last year he did a bit. The season to date absolutely NOTHING. The "groin" injury who came up with that one, no mention of it in the four games prior to him being dropped, then all of a sudden bingo "groin strain" more like brain strain, Brown's ego needs a reality check. He did a lot of talking before the season started about how good he felt, reckoned he have a really good season, first four games complete dud's, waste of space on the playing field.

Brown can talk the talk on the Footy Show or various radio shows, but he's not showing the walk the walk on field and he's definitely not showing any leadership and how to go about things to the younger players. Shane Crawford nailed it and Brown couldn't come back with any answer, went back to designed his fashion label.

No he got dropped for lack of form, just like Troy Simmonds who at least didn't come up with some injury like tennis elbow from all the ruck taps he'd won. If Brown wants to play AFL then he has to work at it instead of just thinking I'm here I'm being paid $500K or whatever a year to play I'm a shoe in. Wrong attitude, thats the sort of *smile* poor attitude that got Richmond where it is today. If Brown doesn't play another AFL game for us, I for one will not miss him, I'd rather give Morton, Nahas, Edwards, White and other young players the opportunity.

Its not a case of beating up on the more senior or well known players. You've got Matty Richardson at 34 still running around like he did 17 years ago. Ben Cousins is another that will bust his guts out on the field. Young Cotchin will do the same, sad to say however there are a lot of other players young and old that simply will not do that and that is why we 3rd from the bottom of the ladder.

Nope wouldn't know if he was or he wasn't. No mail around though to say he was injured, if you've got a groin strain you can't do full pelt running or kicking, so sharp eyes at the training sessions should have picked something up was wrong with Brown.

I just find it incredible that he's dropped and its attributed to "groin" strain!!!.

Injury or lack of form, I'd still leave him out of the team and play the young guys, give them the opportunity to play for the club for a change, they can't do any worse.

Surely you would have to think Browny was injured if he didn't play at coburg last weekend.

After training for the whole pre season he could get through more than 3 games without needing a rest.

Apart from the injury report you mean. Plus the reports from players and coaches.

Christ this is like playing deck chairs on the Titanic.

Best 22. If I could have 3 weeks with them, to assess who has got it in them mentally and then go from there, my 22 would be:

Back: Raines, Thursfield, Newman
Half B: Rance, McGuane, Moore
Centre: Delidio, Cotchin, Richardson
Half F: Morton, schulz, Riewoldt
Full F: Nahas, Hughes, Cousins

Ruck: Graham, Coughlan, Foley
Inter: Edwards, Pattison, Tambling, White
Emg: Post, Collins, Connors

Replace Chris Newman as skipper, I'd put the heat on Delidio make him Captain, the responsiblity might just do the trick, Cotchin VC, with both Richo and Cousins in the leadership group with Foley and Newman.

I can see people on PRE throwing up over schulz and Hughes. As I said, I'd want 3 weeks with both those players (actually the whole playing list) to see just how well they'd cope with some serious physical and psychological challenges that were set by military trained personnel.

Very interesting about Delidio. Why not make him CAPTAIN/COACH?
Ha Ha..just joking..but can't do any worse.
In fact,my dog could not do worse!!!

Riewoldt is about 2 inches too small and about 10Kg too light to make into a key position forward, he should be 3rd tall, so you have to include both schulz and Hughes as CHF and FF accordingly. That lets, Cousins, Morton and Nahas under these 3 to crumb the ball. Cousins can rotate out to the wing with Delidio or with Cotchin in the Centre. Richardson, leave him on the wing, with clearcut instructions to move forward or back as the case maybe but he's to stay outside the Tiger forward 50 metre arc, he can kick goals from outside that arc.

The back half seems much more settled in my book, whilst the midfield isn't that bad and those in it can play the game if they have the right mindset.

Its the forward line that is the most pressing problem, but given our playing list, what we can possibly trade for draft picks years end, I guess that what I've put up as my best 22 is about the best the Tigers will be able to do for this season, 2010 and possibly even 2011, until they can get some high draft young draft selections up and running.

bugger!!

my reply was...why not make delidio captain/coach?
ha ha ..just joking...but then..he cant do any worse..nor could my dog.
