Blair's Boys - 2012 Trade Week Targets

Whats the knock on Clayton Hinkley? Now at Port Melbourne but 4 seasons at Freo. He's quick but don't know much else.

We keep him because he's 22, has shown decent AFL form already, has shown he can win a lot of hitouts at lower levels, has shown he can contribute around the ground and because he's also shown he has the required aggression to play ruck at AFL level. OK?

No, 1 game doesnt mean he's shown "decent AFL" form. He's played NO AFL games this season and he's played VFL 2nds when RFC have screamed out for a 2nd ruck to assist Ivan (hence using Tuck, McGuane, Miller as pinch hit rucks) and it's not as though Gus was keeping him out of the team. His disposal is ordinary and I dont beleive his marking is anything to write home about. Yes, he has aggression and determination and can win a tap out. But AFL ruckmen need more than that.

He's played no AFL games because we have Ivan, Vickery and Graham ahead of him and there's no reason whatsoever to rush a 22 year old ruckman who you selected in the rookie draft. You take players like that in the full knowledge that it takes years of development to see any reward. Last year he played 7 AFL games and 6 of them were very good including games against Leuenberger, Hille/Bellchambers/Ryder and Seaby where he kept us well in the contest despite giving away years of experience.

Ok, well we'll just have to wait and see what future the RFC think he has come seasons end.

Jesse White in the best again for Sydney reserves in their win over Brisbane ressies.
Would have been handy today against Kepler Bradley in the ruck, offering Jack a chop out, giving Ivan's groins a rest etc. etc., repeating myself again and again, blah, blah, blah....

Ok Juffa - after all these weeks I am a convert. Lets hope the powers to be are on to it. Wud be a good get. Wud really like to throw a few of the FTF at Crowley too just quietly.

In all honesty, they continually say we draft for talent and trade for needs therefore there must be a big ass piece of paper at Punt Road with "Mature Mobile Ruckmen/Forward" stuck on the wall and a long list of guys they have gradually crossed off for one reason or another as the season has gone on.

And seriously, I would love to hear from other people whose name should still be on that list apart from Jesse's.

We gotta get someone in because we can't rely on TV being injury free again, there has to be a backup.

Haretuku maybe. Agree though. They've tried to get one with Derrickx but that looks like a bust. All of Griffiths, Elton and Vickery are the type though so in the long run we should be OK.

With you Juffa.

Need this type.

Not a star but a upgrade on what we have at Coburg.

Yes, I have no issues for this role in 2016, we have invested good draft picks in those 3 so it will pay off down the track so a cheap ready made option to trade for now is the key.

And you're right that it needs to be a back up type too because chances are Vickery will fill the role next year.
