Blair's Boys - 2012 Trade Week Targets

And you're right that it needs to be a back up type too because chances are Vickery will fill the role next year.

Yep, if all goes well, the guy we bring in never plays a game.
But the main reason I think Jesse is the right option is if Vickery goes down he fills that role perfectly, won't be as talented up forward but will give Jack the size he needs next to him but will probably perform a bit better around the ground as a second ruckmen because of his size and tank where that is still developing with Vickery.

Also, I think they would rest Ivan up forward more if Jesse was playing which he has shown some talent with and that would be crucially important if we improve and are in the finals hunt as we can't have your 1st ruck cooked by August.

But if we lost Maric, then you could have 3 options.... straight swap for the back up lumberer (Browne, Grahm etc. whoever it is on the list)... move Vickery to first ruck (if he is fit enough) and Jesse plays Vicks role..... or play Jesse as a 197cm (but 110kg) ruck and pinch hit with the taller Vicks.

Provides several nice scenarios and is out of contract and available for trade.

The problem with this is: who would come to Richmond for the opportunity to be third in line? For this reason we're likely to bring in a state leaguer looking for any opportunity: much like Derrickx was 2 years ago.

(Although, reading Lyon's comments about Sandilands' late inclusion, Griffin may want to move from Freo. And where's Zac Clarke?)

This is why I think Jesse is an interesting one.
He has just come off a good contract, 3 years at decent coin.
Because of our unique situation, young squad, room in salary cap etc. I would be comfortable to offer him 2 years on decent coin just to get him as a backup.
Other teams may be interested in trading for him but would they want to pay much for him. We have that luxury.

Luke McGuane has been paid decent coin to be a backup this year, Kelvin Moore as well. We have plenty of available cash.

Trust your opinion Juffa, but leysy will again throw a name up that is a similar, but a better option ILO - Cam Pedersen.

Either way, there is zero excuse for anyone to continue the bizarre/incorrect long held view that McGuane should be considered as that option.

Do you think Cam Pederson at 193cm (100kg though) can play backup ruck consistently if one of Ivan or Maric go down?
I see him as a backup KPP, not not tall enough to be a tall power forward/genuine ruck option which is what I'm looking for.

Chris Dawes is the same height but 105kg and is pretty useless in the ruck IMO.

Pedersen can ruck though where as Dawes is a complete spud at it. Pedersen can play forward/back or 2nd ruck. He wouldn't cover Maric though. He'd play Vickery's role fine if called upon.

Is that game day lie detector real? They just asked Goddard if he was leaving the Saints and he said no, and passed the lie detector.

Haretuku maybe. Agree though. They've tried to get one with Derrickx but that looks like a bust. All of Griffiths, Elton and Vickery are the type though so in the long run we should be OK.
Was impressed with what I saw of Haretuku but havent seen enough of him. Do think he will be a state leaguer that will be looked at though.

No, 1 game doesnt mean he's shown "decent AFL" form. He's played NO AFL games this season and he's played VFL 2nds when RFC have screamed out for a 2nd ruck to assist Ivan (hence using Tuck, McGuane, Miller as pinch hit rucks) and it's not as though Gus was keeping him out of the team. His disposal is ordinary and I dont beleive his marking is anything to write home about. Yes, he has aggression and determination and can win a tap out. But AFL ruckmen need more than that.
This right here shows you really don't know what your talking about.

Yeah, clearly dont know as much as you. ::)

I'm wrong, Browne is a great mark, highly skilled by foot. Dimma clearly can't see that by not giving him ONE game this year.

if we finish 12th I figure our Rnd 1 and 2 draft selections will be 9, 30 and 31. This is based on the 6 compensation picks being executed this year.

Who are these highly credentialed superstar rucks aged 22 or under timmy?

Browne is a good mark & has good disposal, have you even watched him play?

Good to see you admit to being wrong though!

The logical thing to do is get rid of Graham (had his chance) and keep Browne. We should also get Jesse White for the forward ruckman role. In that way we have Maric and Browne as primary rucks and Vickery and White as forward/ruck.

Probably should recruit a rookie ruck as well.

Not a bad result all things considered, 3 quality mids should be achievable with those picks. Add Chaplin, Cloke and Blease and things are starting to really take shape.

Nope, havent seen him play for Richmond this season.

Yeah Pedersen is the one I am going for!! He is very mobile and does actually know what he is doing in the ruck despite being 193cm. Forward and Back also options with him and he is ready made!! Way ahead of Derickx for example.

I don't understand the Jesse White love from some here.

The Swans have a Canadian ex-rugby player getting a game ahead of him!!

Don't understand the Jesse White love either.

When he's played he's been very ordinary. Barely gets a touch.

I reakon the Swans would let him go without batting an eyelid.
