Blair's Boys - 2012 Trade Week Targets

Next undervalued underplayed cheap get from another club must be able to kick both feet, or at least be willing to try. I reckon Grigg is caught by surprise every time he pulls on his right sock: "What the hell is this thing!?"

John Butcher

I think Richmond should try to lure John Butcher from Port Adelaide. Is a big key position player and originally from Gippsland. He, Vickery and Riewoldt would work in well together.
Maybe offer Griffiths and Helbig on the trade table?

Is Jordan Lisle worth looking at? Was kinda impressed with him at Hawthorn and thought he would be their long term CHB. Was traded for a 3rd rounder (from memory) to the Lions and now can't seem to get a game.

You must clearly be Matthew Primus, and Matthew, no thanks

Re: John Butcher

Butcher by name and butcher by nature, he has one of the most ungainly kicking styles I have ever seen. And besides, he signed a deal with Port last season.

I've come to the conclusion it's Tyrone's absence that has made the massive difference between our earlier form and what we've seen since he's been out. Even in the loss to Freo (his last game) we outplayed them for the most part but just couldn't finish. In the weeks leading up to that we were playing easily the best football we've played in years.

I think his absence hurts in two crucial ways. Firstly Ivan has had to ruck full games and his effectiveness has suffered because of it. Secondly Reiwoldt became the sole focus for opposition key defenders and our forward structure has looked awful since. Not surprising either when his replacements have varied between Miller, Graham, Derrickx and McGuane (FFS).

What this clealy shows to me is that even though he wasn't in great form, he was playing a crucial role. What we need is obviously to get him back and in form ASAP, but also to find a decent back up for him while Griffiths, Elton and maybe a pick or two this year develop. Maybe they see Griffiths as someone who can not only back Tyrone up but also have a function with him and Reiwoldt both in the team as both a 3rd tall and as a swingman. This would make sense if the rumours of our interest in Carlile are true. That'd certainly free up Griffiths as Carlile, Grimey, Rance, Post, Astbury and maybe a junior from this draft cover the 3 key defensive posts. Otherwise are there any players of this type perhaps struggling to get game time at their current clubs?

Don't tell me you've just realised this now? It's quite obvious our ball movement has been fine until we move/kick into I50 with a tied up Jack as the only main target.

I just can't work out why Dimma doesn't move Post to CHF instead of McGone or Miller.

Luke at least ties to apply defensive pressure.

Pia straightens up the forward line and he leads away from Jack.

Post does neither.

How if he hasn't even being placed there?

Luke waits for the ball.

He's been tried there and failed.

Surely you must realize that if Beavis prefers Luke or Miller to Post then Post must really be, at this point in time, less productive up forward.

Or do you think our coaching department haven't considered the obvious moves ?
