Blair's Boys - 2012 Trade Week Targets

Just move heaven and earth and get James FRAWLEY. He might be contracted just get him to quit the club.

Chris knights is past his best AFL level! We need a key foward incase vickery doesn't come up don't care if it's cloke or post we need someone helping jack out! We probly need to draft 2 more young good mids that can come straight into the team and of course we need Chaplin to free up either griffiths or astbury and love to get young Tom Nichols down from the suns! Delist all the hacks this year so they are all finally gone i.e mcgoo, x man, graham, white, Browne, Jackson IMO, heslin, Connors, miller, McDonald and webberly. Would also like to see verrier n ohanlon get done game time in the 5 weeks they both look the goods!

Post has played CHF. Maybe not this year, but enough for the club to decide his only chance is as a defender.

This would have been 2 years ago when he would have been 20 years old playing in a side managing 30-35 inside 50s, most going to Jack.

It's clear they don't rate Post forward or back, but Miller/McGoon isn't working and Post would be a better relief ruck option than McGoon.

Post may not be the future but it would be nice for Hardwick to try something to adapt during a game to change things around rather than sticking rigidly to pre-season plans that aren't working.

McGuane performed better than Post as a forward at Coburg. Christ, Gus has done better up front than Post has at Coburg.

Miller, at VFL level sh!ts all over the 3 of them as a KPF.

Post has failed as a forward. He's failing as a defender. I hope he turns it around because god knows we could use a decent KPF swing man, but I'm not holding my breath.

Haven't they been playing Post as a defender at Coburg? And wouldn't his days at a forward been in a crap Coburg team when he was 20?

Problem is the guy's we are talking about(Post,Miller,Mcguane & Gus) have been tried & tested and are no longer AFL worthy.

Colin Sylvia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He hasn't signed a new contract and would be the perfect polisher in our forward line, put him on the flank would be a brilliant acquisition. Hes matured as a player i feel aswell.

Seems a good fit to me. Adds depth to the midfield and gives us another midfielder to rotate forward. Add Chaplin and our best 22 gets pretty enticing:

Morris Chaplin Grimey

Batchelor Rance Deledio

Grigg Cotchin Conca

Sylvia Griffiths Martin

King Reiwoldt Vickery

Ivan Tuck Foley

Post Ellis Nahas Edwards

Suddenly Jackson, Houli and Newman are the first layer of depth also. Young players like O'Hanlon, Arnot, Helbig, Elton, Astbury and Browne can all hopefully improve and start to put pressure on those above them. And instead of deadwood backing them up we have pick 9, pick 26, pick 30, pick 47, Verrier, Darrou, Wright, Turner, Simon and 3 new rookies developing and filling in where disaster strikes. That looks just about right to me and in the process McGuane, Miller, Derrickx, White, Webberley, Addam, Graham, Moore, Connors, Macdonald and Heslin can all be moved on.

Yep that team looks very enticing to me. Add Dea to the depth, I hope we get chaplin he is a much more composed full back then rance. Rance is gonna be a gun but he needs to play CHB as his decision making can let him down and wont be as detrimental from the CHB as it is deep in the defensive 50. Hopefully we get Chaplin, Sylvia, Jesse White, David Hille (1 year contract to back up Ivan), Danyle Pearce for outside run that we desperately need.

I really want us to look at getting Travis Tuck, we all know our depth isn't great and having a ready made AFL body on the rookie list is a far better option that an 18yo that was overlooked for the main draft. We need to add depth to our list and getting some ready made talent would really assist us when injuries and suspension all come at once.

Was keen but less so now, won't meet the NDP (no *smile*s policy)

and you want Sylvia?

Sylvias issues have been blown out of proportion. He seems like hes matured as a bloke and player. So you'd rather have mcguane and jackson on the forward flank?

Ablett & Judd are both mercenaries too then I take it.

They are professional footballers. Cloke's doing nothing wrong except looking after his welfare.

Ablett didnt move to a rival club for money...what welfare? Money welfare or playing welfare? Collingwood are still in their premiership window and will be for the next 5 years. I would love cloke here aswell but not as an overpaid mercenary ahead of Jack, Cotchin, Martin, Deledio.

He went for the weather??

ha ha ha I said he didnt move to a rival club for money. Mate, ablett is the best player in the competition and rightfully deserves that money. So you think Cloke deserves 1 mil a year? How come he hasnt signed the contract already? what reasons?

Because Blair has been into him all year and told him to hold out until end of the season? ;D

Sorry too clever for me.

Yes he is the best but bottom line is he chased the coin (mercenary as you put it) as many professional players have done and will continue to do.
Especially with the introduction of free agency under which Travis now falls.

Please stop putting words in my mouth.
Travis deserves what the market will pay. What that is I'm unsure but I would think he'll end up with somewhere around $850k over five years.
He is a very talented CHF and they don't grow on trees otherwise everyone would have one. A lot don't, hence he's a man in demand.

Trying to get the best price he can to secure his future.

As someone else said this week.. Travis won't be a media star, he won't be a coach and when he's done in this sport that's likely it.
These players make a heck of a lot of sacrifices to play AFL football and it's all over by the age of 30 if they're lucky.
I don't begrudge any of them trying to get what they can out of football.
No one loves them when they're out of it.
