Blair's Boys - 2012 Trade Week Targets

Doesnt have have quite a few issues though?

Yeah he is the only player to collect 3 strikes... but that is the only reason he isn't on an AFL list. Hawthorn chose him over Josh Kennedy as I understand and we all know how our Tuck is going at 30. As a rookie selection it is a safe selection imo.

So Rucci says we have all-but got Chaplin. Handy pick up I say.

I posted in last years thread that Port offered him to us. This has been 18 months in the making. Port dug their own grave here. Dumbasses. ;D

Who or what did they want in return?

Lewis Stevenson has been cutting it up in the WAFL of late and is considered a chance to play for the Eagles this week.

Could make a useful outside mid. Would be worth looking at I would think.

Agreed. Would target him before Stevens.

Is there any love for Tayte Pears? We need big bodies down back and he might be worth a look. TBH, im not sure what his kicking is like so you wouldn't want him and rance back there if it was poor. Another big bloke is badly needed though... could we get both Pears and chaplin?

Is Brad Dalziell worth a shot?? He would come very cheap and from memory was a ball magnet when he started at the Lions. Got home sick as a youngster and went back to Perth, I don't know if he is just a good state league player or the depth and strength of WC's strong midfield is keeping him out.

According to my Essendon supporter mate he will either go to the Suns as part of a deal to get Caddy or will be traded to get a pick to use in a Caddy deal. Either way he believes he will go.

Personally I don't think we need both Chaplin and Pears and would prefer us to keep draft picks and go with Chaplin as a free agent.

With a bit of luck we might have three picks in the top thirty, not bad for a club that hasn't tanked or lost a player of Abletts ilk. Would be very upset in a strong draft to lose any of them for short term gain. Chaplin as a free agent sounds fine to me as long as it doesn't compromise our drafting position. Getting Chaplin and maybe getting another extra quality pick from somewhere...well that is the stuff that dreams are made of.

I've seen him play WAFL a couple of times Archie and never really been impressed. Not saying there isn't something there that can be worked with, but he looks like a good WAFL player to me. Just an all rounder, but nothing really execeptional.

I remember watching him play with the Lions, and he looked all right. But I can't see that form in him now.

Thanks Streak, much appreciated.

I wasnt sure if he was the kind of player that was stiff to miss out or like a lot of other players at the next level down that just couldnt take the next step. These guys are the ones I believe that can add depth to a midfield and are worth a shot if they have the likes of Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Deledio, Tuck in the side with them taking all the attention and they can go about their own game without being the centre of attention as they do at that lower level, thats of course if they can take the next step.

Pears every day over chaplin
Probably right but I would rather a Mercedes than a Ford as well but am I prepared to pay the price?

Pears would cost a 2nd rounder minimum imo and we can get Chaplin for zero compensation.

Wouldn't mind a look at Luke Delaney if he was out of contract,he always gets dropped to make way for others coming back from injury.
