So here we are approaching the split round and once again collingwood are in the spotlight playing Sydney on Sat. night and being the only game on the weekend in the 2nd week of the split round. (North v Carlton doesn't mean anything to anyone :spin)

Why the hell does the split round have to revolve around them?

Why does the Queen's Birthday Monday have to revolve around them?

Isn't it enough that they get Anzac Day to themselves?

It's about time our hierarchy voiced their dissapproval of eddie's eediots being in the spotlight all the time.

At the best of times I can't stand them, but their continual upholding by the AFL makes me sick!

I am still gratefull to Brisbane for the rebirth of the colliwobbles.

Bugger off mcguire and you too malthouse.

I still don't get it. If we have to have a split round, what's wrong with 4 games & 4 games? Friday night, saturday afternoon, saturday night and sunday afternoon. None of the games would clash with each other, and being in sydney, no other game would be played in the same city or time. Answers please demetriou or anderson!!!

I won't be watching Collingwood on Saturday night as I have seen so many of their games on free to air TV this year that I am bored by them.

They get a good deal because they are popular and have a good administration. Hence they generate revenue for the TV networks and the AFL. It's purely business.

Unfortunately we have been so poorly run that we have not created any 'events' of our own, except for the Dreamtime game against Essendon (the idea came from them too).

We really cannot whinge. We had Collingwood as the opening game in round 1 and cancelled the deal in a way that shut the door forever. What other innovative ideas have we come up with?

"Play the big 4 against each other twice" is what we go on with year in year out. What a joke. The big 4 of the league fo not include us any more. It's up to us to be creative.

They won't be getting much mileage out of this weekend with World Cup fever, esp if the Aussies win tomorrow morning.

McGuire is the most dangerous person in Football because he is a deliberately divisive person. He promotes any organisation that he is associated with and denigrates everyone else. I don't have a problem with the first part of this but there are no win-wins with him.

Just wait till his disgraceful network loses the Footy rights. He will bare his claws at every opportunity and will try to shore up Collingwood further to the absolute detriment of the rest of the competition. The AFL will have no choice but to fight back and hopefully some of their sweet deals will be at risk.

Hating Collingwood for their success, exposure and favoured draw reminds me a bit of the time when Richmond were hated because we were tough, ruthless and successful. The opposition hatred was a back-handed compliment because they were envious of our club.

I hate how Collingwood are favoured too but I think Eddie is only doing his job, and doing it very well.

My gripe is with the AFL and I'm becoming more disillusioned all the time. There's no doubt there are teams they want to build up to be competitive and teams they're happy to see languish. They shamelessly use their rigged draw to help the rich get richer.

Collingwood, without a doubt, get a very favoured run. I think in some ways the AFL use Collingwood to stroke their own ego. ::)

I'll be watching in the hope that there is a giant all-in brawl with maybe 5-6 pies suspended for one match and another half dozen with injuries that will keep them out for a match.

This is where the main problem lies, the AFL don't stand up for themselves against the stronger personalities, what Eddie wants is what Eddie gets. Can you blame Eddie, I dont think so he does the best for his club. I think the issue should be that our club has to push in the same direction as Ed has the scumwood. You need to be selfish, you need to look after your own interests first & you dont take no for an answer. After all this is a business now, so stop complaining about what we cant do & show all the other clubs what we can do.

This will all change once the new TV rights agreement kicks in next year, expect the AFL to be harder on Eddie Everywhere and his mudpies.

They are travelling interstate this week, probably why they get such a special deal, after all it's not as if they travel every second week like some clubs have been doing ATM. Poor loves ::)

IMO split round should involve every team havent a week off at the same time.
A footy free weekend, yes it would be boring, but it is fair for everyone. This year works out well in this instance as we get a break before Colliwobbles and they dont but in years to come may be different.
Play state of origion in the off week.

They've won flag in the past half century - or thereabouts.  The Crows and Weagles have more members despite being new clubs.  Why are the scum so special?

Gotta agree with you Rosed One. Taking it one stpe further though, any crude abuse of Eddie only ends up sounding like sour grapes or worse - envy :o

Greytiger is spot on - the change of the TV rights will change the status quo. The Tiges have had how many years of survival or benign management? The worm is turning and the Tiges current admin, with innovation and determination, can make themselves more masters of their own destiny.

Demand it because we are good - not because the have it!

The AFL hierarchy are riding the scumwood hype and dollars harder than D. Oliver pushing home a cup winner. Its all good for their bottom lines of bums on seats and t.v. viewers.
Unfortunately all the other Melb based club supporters love to hate the scum but all the club boards want to push for games against them because it guarantees dollars and media exposure.
As for Eddie and the scum ............................................................... they're just kicking back raking it all in and laughin like *smile* at the complete mob of coat tuggers from Victoria.
You will notice the interstate sides don't make much of a song and dance about the scum.
THEY DON'T NEED SCUMWOOD, to many Melb sides do.
