how silly have they become. a rushed behind is now the equivalent of a penalty in soccer its a joke. they just wont leave the game alone. the bastards dont have the right. whats even more amazing is if this rule change is successful in the nab cup it will be bought into the season proper. what i want to know is who decides if its successful or not, you can bet your bottom dollar the average supporter will have absolutely no say in the matter.
to be honest i cant believe they would even contemplate it for the nab cup yet alone the season proper it goes against the core principals of the game.
its got to the point where we might as well not have defenders its almost got to the point where if the ball gets to a certain spot in your forward line its a free shot at goal or the defender has to hand the ball to the forward for a free shot at goal.
all this in a knee jerk reaction to joel bowden who after a behind was scored was called to play on had no option to kick to and walked thru another behind.
whats wrong with keeping what we have but adding a clause that says if the ball is not touched by another player a ball up will result at the top of the square.this will result in the backman either delivering to a teammate. playing on and delivering to a teammate, kicking wide to a contest or a bounce at the top of the square. we already have the rule that states if the ball is not touched by a player its an automatic free kick.
those *smile*s in charge and by those in charge i mean coaches as well they need to be held accountable for destroying what was once a tough and beautiful game to watch. something happens in a game they dont like and they have to hit it with a sledge hammer rather than giving what we already have a gentle tweak.
i suggest everyone who attends a nab cup game and who are sick to death of the *smile*g around with our game yes our game not vlads not bartletts not the coaches boo every time a free kick is given for a rushed behind weather it be to us or the opposition.
