1 Goal in the wet is like 1.5 goals in a dry weather match.

Thats why I dont know how we just laid down towards the end of the second quarter...

45 points is fair, but that means we where up by 30 :D

Perhaps Geelong wasn't cruising TomH, but they certainly went up a gear in intensity and urgency. It's always been a thought by footy clubs that a winning margin in the wet is worth a factor of 2. Bomber just stating the bleeding obvious - if you don;t like don't listen.

However, the quality of grounds today probably reduces that well worn rule of thumb just a little.

Yeah, but then again you repeatedly hear how class shows through in the wet. So which is it?

They kicked 7 goals in the 3rd qtr from memory which was the catalyst to their win. You can't kick many more than 10 goals in a good qtr in the dry. I think its a bit rich to say the wet halved their margin when it was only the one good qtr that they played and the tiges took the chocolates for the other 3 qtrs.
Did you watch the third quarter, it was the worst quarter of football ive seem from us in a long while. Lucky they only kicked 7 goals and not 12

On AFL winners, I presume it was a clip from his press conference, Bomber Thompson claimed the 30 point victory in the wet was the equivalent of 50-60 points in good conditions.

I haven't seen the game yet but 50-60 points is a flogging. Is Bomber on the money or is he selling us short?

In the old days Id say yes but today goals are so free flowing I dont agree that is the case. If it was pelting down with rain the whole game maybe.

I think thompson has a firm grip on himself here. Aside from the 3rd quarter, we more than matched it with them. Three of their most experienced players in chapman, ling, and ablett took hold of the game and turned it. The rest were average imo.

Unfortunately when you win, you say what ever you please and people believe you - even when its total crap.

What a tosser even making excuses when he wins. You think after winning a Grand Final he would be show more humility. Dweeb.

Agree, he has no class at all

There was no need for him to go there, after all they are unbeaten right?

They did seem to win easy when it counted though, and don't know how he is not satisfied with this?

agree dweeb :D

So we in fact coughed up a 40 point lead early in the second quarter?

Maybe on the money, they kicked 7 goals in the 3rd quarter in ordinary conditions. The fact is we lost but we did outscore them in 3 out of the 4 quarters so Bomber probably forgot that stat.

I thought he mentioned if someone offered a 30pt win ("in these conditions") before the game, he would have taken it without hesitation.
I agree with the comparison of figures: It's the type of attitude Richmond would have resembled during the early 80's.

Bomber THOMPSON has never got over the fact that Matty ROGERS kicked 2 goals on him in the last quarter of the 1st semi in 1995. Watch it. You can see his disgust. He was caught behind on both occasions. He was towelled and his disdain for the RFC since is there for all to see.

Wouldnt surprise me.

Gee imagine how much we'd be hated if we won more finals games!!

Geez, too many rose coloured glasses here. We were betaen comfortably by a side that is superior in all departments and tried for less than half the game. I think we have been flattered by the margins in the Hawks & Cats games. Both teams have a few gears to spare on us. To get those gears we need some KPP. Although how Schulz has been ignored as an option on Roughead & Mooney baffles me.

::)

you get beat by what you get beat by.

thompson`s got no idea what a wet weather score converts to in dry weather and neither has anyone else.
i mean how the hell would anyone know?

they won by 30 points and that`s it.
