Here is an account of the hearing from The AGE.

"His arm was straight, as if to spoil, but glancing contact between his thumb knuckle and Ward's left eyebrow inflicted a laceration that bled immediately. Ward left the ground, but was told by the field umpire that he saw the contact as within the contest and not incurring a 50-metre penalty.

So it was taken to the tribunal anyway.... what a crock.... It will be interesting to see how Patrick reacts to this this weekend.

The tribunal probably looked at the incident in slow mo and saw Joels face, he had a dirty night, who could blame him for the face he made....

Next person to get a week because of a face they pull while contesting the ball..... Damien Pevrill......

I think it was worth going to the tribunal, because there was no change to the number of suspended games for doing so if found guilty.

Definately worth it.... however still believe based on other incidents that have got off this year, that he should have got a reprimand.
