Boy do we owe Richo....

Just came acroos this in the hun, the pulse column. It annoys me because it perpetuates the myth of Richo and dummy spits, and I'm sure the facts in this are wrong. I can't find the link, so to summarize.Apparantly hudgton of the saints let loose a spray at teammate maguire on the weekend. He's linked it to Richo.
"It would have brought a tear to the eye of Matthew Richardson, who was dropped in 2002 for such a petulant display. Teammate David Rodan was the target of Richo's disgust when he fumbled a handball......etc"

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong. That incident was either against hawthorn or the eagles. To me, he didn't have a go at Rodan, just displayed his frustration that a certain goal was missed.
Richo was dropped after a night game against carlton. He spat it when a bad kick from Knights missed him. As far as I could tell, that was the only time he really let fly, after a frustrating game.
Can someone enlighten me on the 2 games please.
Was it that Rodan didn't handball to him in the goalsquare and Rodan ended up missing the goal? His one to Knights was a shocker, her basically gave up half way through his lead when he saw the ball wasn't going to hit him on the tit. I am pretty sure it was the same game.

That was 5 years ago...I can't remember another display like that since. Sure he will have a go at players every now and then for ignoring his leads, but then so do half of the key forwards in the game. I reckon his reputation as a sulker is well and truly undeserved.

Did someone say Franklin? >:D

Nah, Richo is a great player, I can't believe how MASSIVE his aerobic tank is.

Isn't he the guy that kicks worse than Richo and has about 20% of his endurance.

No, it was the one where Richo did the team thing and handballed to Rodan in the square, being in a better position. Rodan fumbled and dribbled through for a rushed behind.

Yep I remember now. A horrible night all round it was.

Best thing Terry Wallace has done. We are not so predictable in the forward 50 now. I didn't think Richo would be able to play all over the ground, but he's grasped it with both hands. We are a much better team because of this. Well done Richo you are a legend.

As long as it doesn't burn him out

Maybe Cho was always a wingman forced to play at full forward.
Hope the big fella is havin plenty of fun.

With you there. I was rejigging my Dreamteam forward line this week, and considered getting Richo onboard. He's definitely worth his price at the moment, but in the end I didn't pick him up. I find it hard to believe he'll be able to sustain the pace. Saved my cash and got Aker instead....

Actually think this is what is working.
Richo is haring everywhere, forward/defence/link player.

Then when he's pooped they send him to FF for a rest.

This is where it gets interesting. He's now so buggared from the wing that he can't run over every other forwards lead and simply stands at FF and uses all his efforts to take the mark one out. bingo. Mark and goal. Because he's too tired to think about the kick too much, he's kicking in a natural manner which has always been his best chance.

IMO it's working because he is tired when he goes to FF.

:hihi like your thinking!

Also his confidence is up because he has had a good taste of the leather, hence bingo, "goals are us" courtesy of the big man's boot. He's always been such a confidence player.

I'm happy to see him enjoying his footy, gee he bleeds for the Tiges.

His new role benefits him by getting him off the leash and the team by developing a forward line without him as the focal point. Its a win all round I reckon. I just hope he can get a few more years out of him playing this role....it could be a great few years watching him playing in this way....and an appropriate way to finish off what has been an underestimated career (by non Tigers anyway).
