Brando Compo

Hindsight Kingy now reckons ...

A) If you finish top 4 you should be excluded from recruiting free agents!
B) If you have a player who leaves due to free agency. .... no compensation!

Is he still cranky he got the arse with Terry?

Where was this outrage to change the rules when premiership winners Hawthorn got Frawley (they'd just gone back to back by the way)? Or when premiership winners Hawthorn got a 1st rounder for Buddy, or when premiership winners West Coast got a first rounder for Lycett.

Strange, must be something different about us. Is it because everyone was used to us being *smile* and can't accept that we aren't *smile* anymore?

So is not free agency then?
You can go to these clubs but not this club?

Dimma needs to take Gill out for coffee

You know what’s a rort?

The Richmond FC picking up 2 extremely talented players that everyone else overlooked.

How dare we do that? How dare we give two blokes a chance to play the game at the highest level?

How dare we debut someone in the GF and let him be in the top 4 players on the ground?

The outrage is very simple to explain.

People are scared of Richmond.

Whatttttt????

So we get Tom Lynch for free and they whinge - This is whats wrong with free agency they said last year, the top clubs get stronger as they can sign the best players
Fast forward 12 months and we have a player that we would prefer to keep poached from us so we should get some compo and now - This is whats wrong with free agency.

But but I thought what was wrong with free agency was when the big clubs can sign who they want, but when one of the big clubs lose their players to FA its also whats wrong with FA!! Can't have it both ways!!

There is either free agency or there isn't, they need to go and complain to the players association who wanted this in the first place.

Also, Buddy left the Hawks in 2013 just after the hawks had won the minor premiership and had also won the GF. There was no outcry then about the best team getting a 1st round pick, in fact the narrative in the media was that the pick 19 they got wasn't enough!!

Crazy times we live in, I can hear Yoda in the background. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. Yoda's a genius, everyone fears is and are angry about it leading to their suffering (and the Tigers joy).
Great points, let's not forget also Lynch was damaged when he came to us and did not have a pre-season because of his knee injury, it was up to the conditioning staff to get him ready to play. Dimma remarked they were expecting Lynch to play 12 games this year. Ellis if traded will be ready to play tomorrow, he has proven durability and will give the Suns excellent service.

Ironic that people are going after us about free agency when we’re probably just about the club that’s used it the least. From memory, I think we’ve only brought in Chaplin and Lynch as genuine free agents (ie not delisted ones). And despite losing White, McGuane, Conca and now Ellis, this will be our first compensation pick.

AFL Formula = Shaft Richmond.

As usual we will be punished for doing things well. Can see it happening a mile away.

Gold Coa$t on the other hand are given a billion handouts because they’re inept.

Anyways SHocking tried to change the rules last year to stunt us & failed dismally. We will just have to win the flag again next year.

Ralph repeats his spurious claim in today’s HS ie free agency will have given Richmond Tom Lynch in exchange for Brandon Ellis.

This is a deliberate misrepresentation of the overall situation.
There are many practical elements to the overall principle of “equalisation”.
It’s not fair to concentrate on one in isolation - free agency.
Heard of the salary cap Jon?
Richmond also made a calculated decision to commit a significant proportion of its salary cap for Lynch - technically meaning less money available for the rest of the team/squad.

The media will say anything for a story. The real problem is we have no trust in the AFL. We think they may listen. Why? They were the ones that introduced the poorly constructed free agency compensation mechanism. They lack transparency. They make inconsistent decisions, sometimes incompetent, sometimes overtly corrupt. So we absolutely should get a end of first round compensation pick for Ellis despite the erroneous media commentary. We probably will. However AFLHQ is not predictable - the Toby Greene eye gouge debacle is an excellent example.

And sections of the media including Gary Lyon said recruiting Lynch would come back to bite us with the salary cap
