Surely Brandon and his manager would not be dumb enough to agree to a deal with Carlton on the eve of the finals (and also not keep it as a tight secret) and seriously jeopardise his chances of playing in the finals for the RFC and playing in a possible premiership team with the RFC this year. If the rumour turns out to be true, it would surely put the RFC match committee in a very difficult position regarding his selection in the team for the finals. Maybe the rumour has been started by the CFC deliberately at this time to cause real distraction to the RFC and to Brandon and to try to undermine the finals chances of the RFC. As we know too well, the CFC hate the RFC and they haven't beaten the RFC since 2013.

Rumoured to have accepted a 4 year deal at $500K per year at Carlton.

The good news is that might net us a late first round pick.

And it's a good get by Carlton. They need core footballers who lift training standards. If they snag Ellis and Conoglio it's an outstanding off season. And good on Brando. Good Tiger man, loyal servant. And two first round picks would make our trade time very interesting.

Premiership player ready to cash in on the highest bidder.
No shame in that
He’s done well.

Not sure 500K for 4 years will net us a first rounder under the AFLs made up on the run compensation policy.

Ellis was always going to get a reasonable offer as a premiership and regular AFL player in a year where there's really not a lot up for grabs in the free agency bucket. We can cover him so hopefully we'll be able to maximise our return.

If we ended up with two first rounders, I can almost guarantee you, one will be traded.

Best case scenario.

Bobble makes it through and the RFC makes it through to the GF and manage to sneak another flag.

Club huge windfall with another flag.

Club becomes an even more attractive destination club.

Brando goes elsewhere to big time pump up his super with 2 Premiership medallions and a eternal place in the history of the AFL and the Richmond Footy Club itself.

Life Membership and always a beloved and revered Tiger Dual Premiership Player.

The club gets salary cap relief or the ability to lure another player in that will impact the club and allow them to maintain their position for the next year or 2 at the top.

We would cover him with the duds in the twos if he goes.
Don’t make it out like we are losing a star. Ellis is no more then when Matty White left.
Big Deal.

Have watched all of the Foxtel and free to air footy shows and checked all of the footy websites in the last week and there has not been one mention of Ellis. If the claimed rumour has any merit to it, then surely at least one of the many "scoop" football journalists in town would have been right on to this by now. If Ellis has agreed to go to CFC it would surely be big news, particularly considering it is on the eve of the finals. Seems very odd.

Very sad imo that Ellis = whipping boy for a few posters on this forum. Ellis going to another club probably won't satisfy the "whipping boy" needs of a few posters (ie, Z). Another whipping boy will no doubt be found and set upon next year.
