If Brent Staker was to become available during the trade period would there be any interest.

On the positive side, hes fairly tall, has good skills and very mobile.

On the negative side, he does not have the build to hold down true KPP.  And there are question marks as to his composure under pressure.  Hence he has'nt been able to break into the Eagles gf side.

If he did come to Richmond where would he fit in.  With Oakleigh-Nicholls allegedly being groomed for Kellaway's role, and Patrick Bowden in defence, its hard to see him being a 2nd or 3rd tall.

Up forward maybe, but his return is so-so for the Eagles as a forward

might be a suitable trade if they wanna get tarrant.

speaking of tarrant, i just heard the biggest joke of the year today... collingwood wants a 1st round DP and a player for him. :rofl

Staker is a really interesting and unusual player.

On his limitations, the most prominent is that I've never seen him get any altitude. Even last week he took a mark (contested) in the square when everybody else just mysteriously fell over but his feet were on the ground. Can he jump and mark? Can he even jump?

It's not just that he's strong below the knees. He does stuff with the ball on the deck that belies his height. A five-footer would be proud of his moves. He even seems smart at times. But it's always about a surprise pivot and a rushed goal shot.

He's not a tall but pretend talls often do well at CHB.

If he'd had a proper football education, he'd have spent a lot of time at CHB by now, learning the caper. But he hasn't and now he looks one-dimensional, timid, lost and immature almost all of the time. And plays (6'5" tall) on a half forward flank.

He is ranked 9th in total contested marks for the year.

His hands are strong and he holds his ground well at times. Seems to me that he plays the Jeff Farmer special (push in the back with an innocent look) as well as any and scarpers out to the flanks and pockets for his grabs.

I guess the stat (as is so often the case) is a little misleading. A good full back would make mince meat of him in the air. Worsfold doesn't seem to be taking much notice of it.

What I want to know is- is it that he can't jump or that he won't?

Maybe if he got some education at CHB he'd make a player. He's 22yo. I'm not convinced but there's a doubt.

Staker is that high in contested marks because coaches often play a shorter defender on him...safe in the knowledge that he has never genuinely hurt the opposition - and probably never will - no matter how much of the ball he gets.

Despite being fully fit, consistently getting lesser opponents and having one of the most unaccountable roles imaginable in a very good side, he's error prone, averages less than 12 possessions a game (2006) and averages only a goal a game in the 4th highest scoring team for this year. This year when Hansen was out injured and Staker had to lift WCE struggled compared to their best form.

In a lesser team, he wouldn't be worth a spot in the seniors IMO and doesn't have much upside left to come. I can't think of a side who wouldn't be better off drafting a young, genuine goal-kicking HFF who can be groomed for a pinch hitting midfield role instead of Staker.

interesting unit Staker, obviously has somthing but dont really know buch about him, always shows promise but hasnt impacted on many games to a major effect from what i can recall, maybe i am wrong, i dont know. Am sure others are more ofay with him.
I'd swap Tivendale for him but i'd swap Tivendale for anyone so nothing new there.

Interesting to see what his stance is at the club and what value he'd have on the trade table young Staker, he may very well be put up as the Eagles certainly are not afraid to put up known players.
