He's attracted his share of criticism, which comes with the territory of being a #1 pick. But Deledio's done it the hard way, filling most playing positions at one time or another while being targeted by the opposition's best taggers, and without the support of a strong team around him. Debuted at 17 and has been sidelined just once - for three weeks in 2007 with a broken arm.

Expectations are high - particularly at Tigerland - but for mine, Deledio's shouldered the load with aplomb. Defied our poor youth development record to win the Rising Star. B&F winner in his fourth season. Fast, skilful, versatile, durable, courageous, and at just 22, becoming the player we all dreamed he'd be on ND day 2004.
