Brisbane Recruiting Manager to Tiges??? [Merged]

Re: Brisbane Recruiting Manager to Tiges???

Wouldn't lose sleep if we picked up Beatson.

Kinnear Beatson Sacked

Kinnear Beatson the recruiting guru of the Lions has been given his marching orders[huge suprise].Should we go after him?
IMO we should. It has been said many times that part of a clubs success now days starts on draft day.A Beaston-Jackson combination would be an absolute win win for the club and also releasing GM to concentrate on other matters.

Your thoughts?

Re: Kinnear Beatson Sacked

and Greg Beck to join Tennis Australia as a talent spotter

:rofl
Nah.Prefers Beck doing a part time role for the Pies. That will be enough :hihi :hihi :hihi

On the face of it, you'd snap him up. He has the runs on the board and is looking for a job, we're looking for recruiter.

WTF is this Beatson??? What runs on the board has he got re: the Lion recuriting. I may stand corrected but isnt Scott Clayton (now the man putting together perhaps one of the most exciting lists in the comp at the Doggies) the brains behind putting together the Lions premiership list ?????

Clayton to my mind would be nearly worth as much as Wallace on the open market, the guy is a recruting god.

Kinnear Beatson, the man who built the Brisbane Lions' triple premiership winning side, has been dumped as the club's recruiting manager.

Beatson, who joined Brisbane way back in 1994, has not had his contract renewed by the club despite a recruiting record that is second to none over the past decade.

“After discussions with the club, it appears we have differences in our recruiting philosophies and list management and as a result the club has seen fit not to renew my contract, which I accept,” Beatson said on Tuesday.

Beatson said he had no ill-feeling towards the Lions.

“I am extremely thankful for my time at the club, where I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people dating back to the Bears days," he said.

“I am thankful to have been involved with such a wonderful player group and I have made many lifelong friends through the organisation.

“I’m looking forward to whatever new role in football or sport that presents itself and wish the new recruits at the Lions all the best for the coming years.”

Amongst the young hopeful Beatson recruited to the Lions - who would go to play in at least one of the three successive premierships from 2001-03 - were Simon Black (pick 31, 1997), Beau McDonald (pick 73, 1997), Aaron Shattock (pick 45, 1998), Ashley McGrath (pick 13, 2000) and Jamie Charman (pick 29, 2000) while recent picks such as Troy Selwood (pick 19, 2002), Jed Adcock (pick 33, 2003) and Justin Sherman (pick 45, 2004) all look promising players.

The Lions released a statement which did not elaborate on the reasons behind Beatson's shock departure but wished him all the best.

“Kinnear played a strong part in putting together the team that was so successful in recent years and he can be rightly proud of that,” Lions' football manager Graeme Allan said.

“He has been an integral part of our organisation for a long time and is highly regarded by players and staff alike.

“We thank Kinnear for his contribution to the club and wish he and his family all the very best for the future.”

The Lions will now re-evaluate the structure of their recruiting operation.

Beatson was a development officer and under 19s assistant coach at Carlton from 1988-91 and was regional manager of the Western Jets in 1992-93 before joining Brisbane.

Goony Goo Goo, I'm pretty sure you'll find he has been in this role in some form or another right back to when they were still the Bears.

Who the F (WTF) is kind simlar to.... I know F (IFA) all about this Beatson guy and Brisbane, which I quite clearly provided. Just keeping trying it keep it G rated, with my very limited vocab.

I stand very corrected about Mr Beatson, Clayton is a hack, lets go get him

Were they referring to the Goo Goo or the WTF, either way, I hope what I posted helped. :)

Well what you posted did put me in my place. Although Clayton still to this day gets a lot of credit for his work in Brisbane (and I think Sydney in the early days) from a lot of guys in the media.

Maybe this Beatson guy doesnt see the need to big note himself to the general public.
