Brisbane the team to watch.

A marginal improvement in 2005, but not enough games on the board for someone who's been at the club for 3 years.
Not a good sign, could be Brisbane's version of Justin Plapp.

Bit unfair - JP was a rookie I think not a No. 1 draft pick!

Tigers 1st gamers last 2 years
Deledio Raines Roach Tuck Meyer Jackson Pattison Tambling Hartigan Thursfield Moore & Foley
I am fairly optimistic that the majority of these guys will be long serving Tigers in the years to come
if we can draft some KPP on the next 2 years I think things look promising. But I agree Brisbane's young players
look good & all are very hard at the footy.

Moody - cant comment really but looked o.k on first game
Sherman - dont rate him highly.. just looks like he dosent have enough vision and looks hungry at times
Spaanderman - going to be good
Drummond - super kick from full back but general kicking and decision making is average but most likley will overcome with time
Wood - cant comment
Attard - cant comment
Baird - cant comment
Merrett - big, strong, reckless, but will be a future Llynch
Selwood - talented and has plenty of time maturing in the maggo's
Ryswyk - played against him b4 omg quick, will be a player if he gets harder he's under shawn hart atm i think...
Logan - cant comment looked good in first game

add to that Adcock and Rischitelli - both look the goods

There is something going on behind the scenes at brisbane that makes these young players preform above what they should be playing.....maybe its leigh or maybe its the senior players or just pride but they do preform well even under debut

Given the position Brisbane are in they better be hoping they continue to shine or lions will struggle in the next few years

My prediction is that some of these young players will not be as good as some think and Brisbane will struggle in the near future ....I beleive they are playing above their ability or may look to be... only because of the quallity of leadership and disposal which sourrounds them... retirements will make so much of a differernce but hey they have 2 more flags than I do at the end of the day in the last 4 years....

Interesting thread.

Brisbane have absorbed every inch of their playing list talent and 3 premierships supports this.
There is no doubt the rebuilding at Brisbane has began. They have the luxury of rebuilding a team around the best CHF in the business in Jonathan Brown and promoting young midfielders around Power, Black & Akermanis. Their biggest problem is finding strength & stability down back, with Leppitsch & Michael ageing.
If they can find a regular ruckman or two, I believe they have a strong core of about six players (leaders) to develop a young list. They already have some talented kids gaining valuable experience, but the key will be how quickly they can recruit well and delist players like Brad Scott.

Leigh Matthew's is certainly entering his final phase of AFL coaching - If he doesn't taste any further success with Brisbane, I'm confident he will leave Qld football in a good state.
