Well deserved by Neale. Clearly the stand out player in the competition this year. Killed it.

Good to see Steele up there too. Something about him I like.

BT, I went to a RFC draft night the year of Steele's draft and spoke to Francis Jackson who said to me he was a huge fan of Jack's and after interviewing him shook his hand and said "see you in 2 years" as Jack was tied to GWS academy

Yer, would have loved us to grab him instead of the Aints. Would have been the missing piece in our midfield extension then but we have done 'alright' with Prestia, Caddy and the rapidly developing Shai.

Big max Gawn grew up a tigers fan but wants the cats to win the GF - I don’t get it??
Is he rumoured to be going to the Moggs too? Or would just like to? Can't blame him given the team he's the captain of.

Probably just turned into another flog, so entirely suited to get there in a few years. (Still too young).

Strange how everybody has been on Lambert’s back this year.....2 best on grounds after 6 rounds ain’t bad.
In fairness, yes, I’m surprised too.....
That was then ... This is now. Still not convinced by his current form - a lucky kick off the ground. Then good enough to convert from a free. Well done. But a couple of fortunate goals does not a full 100% game make IMO.

One might reasonably have expected us and Collingwood to swap places based on games won

Great post, Lee. Says it all about the AFL, umpires and the Brownlow really.
Should be dropped IMHO and replaced by the Coaches' Award. Far more knowledgeable and representative of who actually plays a quality team-role in a match than the midfielders' award. Not saying mids would not dominate the medal winners still, it happens for obvious reasons.

Just that there would be a much fairer, more astute spread of votes, and often a closer count e.g. a magnificent defender like the all-time great, Alex Rance, may have a chance.
(And then maybe umps could focus on getting a couple more decisions correct. That's what they are there for; not the game analysis).

Thanks caesar...interesting. Let's hope we don't let Green go when his time is up at the Giants

Reckon the umpires shouldn't be allowed to look at the stats sheets before voting. They only started doing it because they were getting a bake after blokes missed votes with 40 possessions. As a result, stats models have it down pat and the market is very accurate. TBH I wouldn't have been aware that Neale was a shoo-in just from watching games. A lot of the night's mystique has been lost.

Let it return to what it was - the umpires' award, not the midfielders'/statsmen's award.
