Just had a squiz at Centrebet's odds for the Brownlow. Our first players listed are at $1001 - Deledio, Tivendale, Pettifer and a few others. J Bowden is ineligible, of course.

But with probably 8-10 wins, you'd think there would be someone shorter than 1000/1? Wouldn't mind having a few bob on Andrew Raines at $2001.

Brownlow votes since 1997:

Club Vot Wins    VPG     F
Br 720 118.5 3.64 652.5
Sy 663 110.5 3.35 628.5
PA 658 120.0 3.32 657
Es 657 122.5 3.32 664.5
Ad 645 108.0 3.26 621
Ka 635 114.5 3.21 640.5
WC 622 103.5 3.14 607.5
WB 613 95.5 3.10 583.5
St 608 91.0 3.07 570
Ge 589 101.0 2.97 600
Me 534 91.0 2.70 570
Ca 531 82.5 2.68 544.5
Ha 523 83.5 2.64 547.5
Ri 515 85.0 2.60 552
Co 514 80.0 2.60 537
Fr 477 77.0 2.41 528

VPG = votes per game
F is what each club would have got based on a rule of thumb whereby the winning team gets 3 times as many votes as the losing team (i.e. 4.5 to 1.5 votes per game on average).

Simmonds would have been high up in the betting prior to getting reported as well.

Agree Brissie. He was a real smokey for this year I reckon until his suspension

My favourite gripe.

Why waste your time and money on speculating or betting on Richmond's Brownlow hopes?

We are the team with the fewest Brownlow Medal winners (based on AFL/VFL history). We have the longest winner drought (Ian Stewart 1971). We have had media red hot favourites fail to win (Bartlett in 74, Campbell in 95). We have had Jack Dyer Medallists fail to get a single vote (G. Raines in 80 and J. Bowden in 05). We have had some of the finest, fairest and best players in history miss out (Merv Keane, Matthew Knights).

Why - because UMPIRES CAST THE VOTES.

Essendon & Carlton will be the only 2 teams to poll less votes than us!

Any idea off the top of your head who's had the most winners?
Is it the Swans?

I think Swans have though Doggies have had a few as well but when you count Skiltons three that helps, will look tonight if nobody does not already know.

No mate its not. Remember umpires were that pimply weenie dickweed who always got excluded and beat up at school playtime, therefore a deep psychological psychosis pervade their every action and thought. White is good and black is bad.
