I'd be curious if any of our posters would have stats regarding Richmond players who have score the highest amount of Brownlow votes in relation to games played.

And it has to be a significant amount of games. I'm not interested in someone who played ten games and got twenty votes.

Someone who played 10 games & got 20 votes, I'd be interested in. What happened to him??!!

Bill Morris 140 games 85 votes 0.607 per game
Maurice Rioli 118 games 60 votes 0.508 per game
Roy Wright 195 games 98 votes 0.503 per game
Francis Bourke 300 games 139 votes 0.463 per game

I'm pretty certain these are the richmond players with the highest aggregates who played over 100 games. I don't think I've missed anyone.

Thanks Tezz, how does that compare with other clubs/greats?

It stacks up fairly well, although we don't have anyone in the top few. Haydn Bunton leads the way with 1.03 votes per game.

whats his stats?

There are some issues which complicate the calculation of average Brownlow votes per game:
- 1924-30, one vote per match for BOG
- 1976-77, both field umpires voted
- 1942-45, no award

In History of the Brownlow Medal, author Peter Blair concludes that each Brownlow vote between 1924-30 is equivalent to 4.8 votes under the 3-2-1 system. This figure is a little subjective but was arrived at after meticulous research. The 1976-77 votes can be averaged (halved).

Using these adjustments, and excluding finals (no voting) and matches prior to 1924 and between 1942-45, the leaders at Richmond are:
