he gave the finger - big deal

seen worse than that at games, and will see worse again

when did we get so freaking soft that we have our collective panties in a knot over one lousy finger?

OK, so the precedent is set, Judge Judy will give him a slap on the wrist and fine him.

Moving forward, we all say our culture needs a change then god damn when the *smile* is the change going to start when a decorated player of the game who kids idolise disrespects the club he is playing for.

TF you have your opinion and I have mine. ;)
what a load of codswallop have we really become so precious.

Well said, agree.

Had to laugh at Radar, Christiansen Walls etc discussing Cuz's bird.
Dickheads were trying to suggest Cuz was flipping off the viewers and footy supporters.
Ambo chasers and news fabricators in the media hyperventilate, manufacture and manipulate every situation to ensure circulation of their product.
Pity the whole club from the Marchfly down to the bootstudders didn't line up and flip a collective bird at the media for some of the *smile* they've been putting out in recent times.

Becaus of media focus, all I will hear now from my mates and in media is the "bird", not how well BC played and that the RFC had another win in WA.
Stupid act that will be talked about too much.

Did anybody see Browny doing again last night, high up on the right side i think it was. Clearly his groins still not right, might explain his poor game last night.

But he's playing with his actual package, not his groin... Bizarre.

As for Cousins... You're all just as bad as the media. The people that are saying it's disgraceful etc etc are the reason why the papers will plaster that photo all over their back pages. You lot sell those papers.

And his other poor games?

In my mind, I know exactly who that gesture was aimed at, and it certainly wasn't tiger fans or Ben supporters. I see the media are determined to carry on about it like pork chops. I can just imagine the cheesey grin on their faces when they saw the incident, in real time it was like 2 seconds but by all means make it front page news....jerks.

It was a dumb act, even if you nderstand where it was coming from. The media feeds off any reaction it can get. The only way to punish the media (both for the team and consumers) is to ignore it and not give it oxygen. Not satisfyimg unfortunately.

I am amazed - Richmond just won it's 2nd game of footy for the season and here on PRE we have 7 pages of tripe on this incident

It is a nothing incident - forgotten by tonight - tomorrow's fish and chip paper.

Why play into the media's hands by keeping the incident alive - forget it - next week we have the Bulldogs and by golly they looked good up here in Canberra yesterday..............

Line of the day for mine. Well said TM.

Great post.
I think Cuz has been remarkably restrained actually.
If the media were hanging out the front of my house and watching my every move 24/7, I think I'd do more than give them the bird.
Still as you say the media will twist it how they want and it's unfortunate that they got it on film.

I've already commented about Ch 10 showing it but that doesn't make the gesture acceptable either.

Richo's pulled out that finger at Subiaco against Freo and kissed it. Selwood told Headland he slept with a girl who looked like his daughter in his tatoo. Fremantle must bring out the best in people

It's funny to see the hun can't get it's facts right again. back page they have Cotch,Cuz and Polo belting out the song AFTER the win, but a paragraph accompanying the pic says he gave the bird 90 minutes earlier, which would put the gesture being produced during the second quarter. Yet, on their website they state that it was done during the warm up before the game.
So much for their editorial earlier in the week, after the plough 'story', that they would get it right from now on, or words to that effect.

He gave the finger 90mins before play. IT WA NOT LIVE. There was no reason to show it. If the media really felt offended or really considered it 'front page material', then they could have reported "Ben, in the privacy of the Richmond change rooms well before the start of play, made a rude gesture at a camera"... except simply reporting it like that would reveal what a pathetic 'story' it was.

A sad, sad, pathetic effort by Channel Tabloid.

Yes Cuz is arrogant. So what... he believes in WINNING at all costs.
Hopefully some of his spirit rubs off on the other palyers.

Cousins was more of a tool on the footage on telly coverage just now giving the finger to the camera. Not a good look for the kids who idolise AFL players.

I disagree Rosy, so he gave the "bird" to the camera in the change room, at least he's got attitude and he showed it. He came out and played a good game, as per normal the media had to show it, after all its the media's fault for showing it (its not normal coverage), I'd bet if say Riewoldt or some other Richmond player had done that they'd never have shown it, because it was Ben, it automatically got shown nationwide and on the news for good measure.

Typical media now they're all jumping up and down about Ben's "Bird". Woopee do dah dandy in my book, plenty of players have given the "Bird" over the years and it will continue to happen as well in the future. Ben will cop a fine for it, no doubt the AFL will castigate Cousins for it, irresponsible etc etc, Mike Sheahan will have his Monday headline for the HUN, "Ben Should Be More Responsible" or somesuch *smile*, particularly noting that Sheahan and Co from HUN are still yet to apologise for the "circus" they caused down at PR, two weeks ago.

Double standard Media, of that there is no doubt.
