Browny's back

i went to the game also .. don't be too worried about the coburg side this early guys.. the squad is not fully finalised yet so alot of the guys you saw tonight where still trying to work there buts off to show something and get onto the list. There would be 15 changes to tonights side come the real stuff. Nathan Brown probably only had 4 to 5 possies at best.. the one goal was the highlight for him.. he hung back and took it easy for a half just to get through and rid some demons in his long awaited return.
Danny Meyer had the ball kicked into his head and he claimed concussion and rested on the interchange for the second half i don't think he's upto playing seniors yet so i'd give matty white ago ahead of him at this stage. Playng Cam howat is a good thing as TW will get to see if he can hack it or not. Tiver's although getting 20 odd possies found it hard to work defensivly as his direct oponent for most of the game was makepiece who absolutly destroyed the game tonight.
As for Cleve Hughes i wouldn't get too excited yet he has plenty to learn and if played in the NAB cup the way he played tonight he'd get slaughtered. I thought he struggle's to read the game and yes has absolutly no aggression to bring down an opponent or crash a pack.. long way away..
Polo was good as all have mentioned did really well and works hard..

Thanks for all the wonderful reports everyone and a special thanks to CC for the phone reports. :clap

great to hear about polo, hope he comes on a tad this year, that would be fantastic for our midfield as has been well documented.

It is a good thing we have people on PRE that do keep up with when times and days change for things, I was looking forward to getting to the game :( and taking a few happy snaps...

anyhoo, good to see that Browny got through o.k.

Sounds familiar ,Tivas gets 20 touches and his opponent carves us up mmm least he is consistent  :P
settle down craig.Tivva wasn't carved up by any means. The North guy i went with reckoned Tivva had the better of Makepeace if anything. And turned it over less.

I agree with him.

Evo did you think they actually played on each other for a large part of the match?Plus I would imagine Tiva was told to chase the ball ,get plenty of kicks at that level ,rather then worry about his man(play Possitive).Tiv did actually fly hard for a couple of grabs as well.

I find it sad that you really seem to want, and take delight in, some of our players failing craigybabes. Gee I hope Tiva has a blinder this year.

I agree with you, they played wide of each other.A fairly typical instruction from both coaches to senior players looking to get a bit of run in their legs to prepare them for the season proper. Both Tivendale and Makepeace(and Rocca) looked a class above most of the players out there, as to be expected.

Aunty Rosy i do not wish for Greg to fail, in fact he has already achieved that rating for a while now.   ;D

I too hope he has a blinder of a year :o

for Coburg :hihi :hihi :hihi

The instructions to the coburg side and the whole side for that matter was to place a big emphasis on man on man. Tivendale was not told to play wide and lose and rack up easy possies. He was matched with makepiece for about 2 and half qtr's of the game as other young coburg players had ago. Basically when tivver's was on the wing he went and played deep in defence and picked up clearance kicks out of defence that where sprung straight back in by his direct oponent at the time Makepiece.. There is no way collo instructed tivvers to go out and get kicks on your own willy nilly and not be accountable for your direct opponent. The theme of the game was to see if each player could stand up and come from the ground and say i have beaten my oponent today.. form the scores and for those who watched... that didn't happen.. I too hope tivendale can get some run in his legs and get into the ones but i too also hope he works on his defensive side of the game as you can't have players playing off each other these days especially if you don't work back hard on the defensive side... sorry for the long write up guys.. just thought id get it all if for you guys for this bright friday arvo... its great that footy's back.

Ha ha, and lay off my guy Chaffey as well, he is going to have an influence in the 2nd half of the year, just you wait and see. ;)

Basically said he felt very good after the game, although a bit wary going into packs etc, understandably so.

I just had an sms that Browny is in the warm up for Coburg.  So is Meyer, Cleve, Polo, McGuane and Graham.   Sav and Makepeace are playing for them.
Hope he does well he is an out and out gun but do not expect big things from him,but who knows!
