BT just dropped a bomb!!

If Hardwick is held in high regard in coaching circles why would he want to coach Richmond?

He'll be welcome as long as he doesn't bring the basketball rules into a game plan.

I am a Richmond supporter and not a coach but even I can see that it would not be worth ending a coaching career to coach us.
Might be the start of a coaching career for him

You would think that TW would expect to be consulted and ratify any assistant coaching appointment

Of course he would have a veto on his team in the box.

However the way to do it is to bring in someone from outside to coach the Coburg Tigers with two development coaches as his assistants. Noted on the ABC telecast of the Collingwood VFL game that Alan Richardson, the Development coach at Collingwood, was in the box with Gavin Brown, the VFL coach, today.

This would also mean that Rawlings could go back to working with Wallace in the Richmond box, bringing the number of assistants there up to what it was last year. Means you only have to recruit a VFL coach and one (or two if McCrae leaves) development coach.

The main point about this whole situation is to have some bloody succession planning after all these years. And that goes right up through the whole footy dept and the entire club.

Every person at the club should be ambitious enough to want their bosses job, to be earned by their work results not politics or rather mateship as seems to happen a lot around footy clubs.

After 4 years, Wallace deserves a kick up the arse. The first two years, he tried to make gains with basically the old list. That put us even further behind the Hawks and Dogs who were down the bottom with us at the end of 2004.

He is now rightfully under the pump. If he doesn't like some new assistants coming in, well tough. I thought Royal was supposed to be the right hand man to sort out our kicking woes! That's really worked!!

Why did Andy Collins move on after getting Coburg to the 2007 VFL Grand Final and playing a role in developing some of the younger players now playing in the senior team? Too much of a threat to Wallace?

BT is always dropping bombs. But he gets away with it because he is a very canny character. Apparently he avoids the dreaded "water bounce" by placing plenty of toilet paper down beforehand.

Smart bloke that BT.

He lives out on the farm, probably has the old thunderbox, so splash-back is not an issue :hihi
