Buckley says no to Tigers

Leave it out guys. He did not have an offer from Collingwood until the Board ratified it on Monday night.

What would you do - cancel the Tigers meeting on Monday and risk being without a job at either club?

That was a rubber stamp...Eddie wouldn't have accepted any disagreement from the Board. HUN says the appointment was agreed to on Saturday at Eddie's offices.

This is a great outcome.

Last time Bucks turned his back on a club to go to collingwood, the spurned side won 3 flags in a row. North and Richmond to battle out three grandfinals in a row, with a win and a draw each, in the next 5 years!

Nice, but shouldn't that be norf and us win the next 6 between us, applying your logic?

Nice to see Figgy has taken the soft option.
Instead of taking on the challenge of coaching a team in his own right or even stepping outside and taking an assistants job at an outside club, Figgy has made the safest decision for his long term career.
He will be handsomely paid for his role as trainee coach in waiting.
He will be guided by one of the best coaches, sent on the best training courses, supported by a secure and caring management group for two years.
All to ensure he has the best possible chance of knowing what the *smile* he is doing when he finally takes over in another two years time.

Only one glaring little insignificant problem.

Scumwood made finals last year.
MnM has them looking at top four this year and playing their arses off.
MnM has two more years of coaching this list, can envisage them making finals both years without being quite elite enough to grab the cup.
Maybe, just maybe when Figgy finaly gets behind the wheel of his fancy Scumwood rocket the wheels may just about ready to fall of. The engine might be ready for a complete reco and there may be some hidden rust under a few panels.

Is it wrong for me to hope that Figgy falls flat on his constipated fat face?

i commend the bloke, he did the right thing, took the option to gain knowledge from one of the game best coaches.
good call bucks.

Soft option. Now the maggies have to pay 2 blokes an enormous amount of money to do the job of 1 (particularly in years 3, 4, &5). If I were a Collingwood member I'd be questioning the need to do this. Then again, we are taking about the brain dead. Does a Collingwood supporter with a double digit IQ exsist?

PS. You know you're a Collingwood supporter when your front veranda collapses and kills 5 dogs!

Glad he is out of the picture.

FIGJAM has proven nothing in the coaching ranks.

I still can not believe McChins speech making camparison to JFK's speech in 1962 that man will go to the moon.
The facts are simply they RENEWED a contract on a current coach and then signed an assistant. Still can't understand the stupid media hype. What stupidity!

OMG :vomit

What a disgrace to Jfk's memory you idlot McChins. Hope it fails & costs you plenty $$$.

P.S. Having thought about it further I never want the club in the future to even entertain the thought of either these two FIGJAM & Millhouse to any official position at the club.

big deal, we missed out on watson, shaw, bartlett, wallace, knights. all great footballers but s...t coaches, thats the hall of fame buckley is going to join.

Rubbish. Buckley has played under Malthouse for umpteen years - he will learn nothing new from him. This will hinder Buckley's development not enhance. Buckley's better option was to take up a senior coaching or assistant position elsewhere or even pontificate in the media longer. Eddie is as competent at making measured decisions as he was as CEO of channel 9 - his style is to coerce - the odds are he gave Malthouse an offer he 'couldn't' refuse. Eddie is behaving like a greedy kid who wants to keep the best of everything even though having more than one doesn't improve the enjoyment - though it stops anyone else benefiting which would be important to Eddie.

isnt this twice now that Mick M has spurned us.The first being when we appointed danny and now.Must admit i really dont want him at Richmond any more.A true tiger would have returned ..LOL

Mick who? What is it with ex Tiger players not wanting to come back to coach us. Well, I hope we no longer consider him for any future Tiger coaching roles. A bit like Sheeds, we were not good enough at the peak of their coaching career so let hope that if he ever comes asking we shut that door on his ugly mug! Let's hope we win a premiership before that trashy side - then who will be laughing loudest!
