Buckley is just going through the process. His process.

Of course he is going to say that. Imagine the hysteria if Malthouse said the opposite. Those feral Collingwood supporters would be trying to break out of Barwon Prison just so they could lynch Malthouse.

Buckley cannot coach Richmond. He will not take the risk of blowing his first coaching job in such a public forum.

If he coaches North and stuffs it up, he will always be able to blame it on the disadvantages inherent in the system and it will not be his fault. Most of the AFL community won't even notice after the first few weeks. He will be wounded but will probably be able to fight another day.

If he goes to Richmond, then it will be fan euphoria, followed by heightened expectations, followed by record crowds to training sessions followed by the depths of despair after the first loss. We know how it works. What if he is 0 and 12 midway through next season? HE'll get soemthing similar at Collingwood but they will continue to love him for a couple of years.

Richmond is the manic depressive of the AFL. Buckley won't take that risk with his career.

if we punt a handful of over 30's and pettifer which is looking very likely do you actually believe there will be high expectations?

Didn't sound too welcoming to me.

Mate, this is Richmond. Even half of the choo choo brigade have high expectations of a win each week.
