Building A List

For me its simple.

Picking a list pick for youth.
Picking a team pick to win.

Not going to matter our 1st pick in 2006 will not be until 16 after we win the flag. As for wanting the tigers to have a bad if you don't come 1st might as well come last.

I'm fascinated how your think a professional football team can try to finish bottom four, as you suggest Jamo?  Playing the game for the past 25 years as an adult, I honestly don't know how a coach or an administration sets out to "achieve" such an obscure objective.

"Play the kids and get beaten or worse, flogged!", I hear you suggest.  Honestly, it's not why you you cross the boundry line each week.  If it's some sort of personal hypothetical nerdvana you are proffering - Ok it's your's, but I honestly don't think competitive footballers on $150K plus per annum will buy that.  I don't even think suburban footballers would buy something similar or relative either (like relegation to a lower league to win a flag next year - it happens, but not by design).

Nothing but doing your best will ever do.......................
Need the best to do the best.

I beleive Carlton and Hawthorn, particularly more hawthorn played for picks this year

How do you propose to get the wooden spoon santa?  You've tried to convince us all year that the kids are better than the duds who were getting a game.
Going by that theory we should improve if we play them.
One thing's for sure....if we play the "duds" and go backwards you'll be on here bagging them mecilessly.
Thankfully Terry doesn't believe in the bottom out to improve theory.....either do I.
dear oh dear oh dear rosalita you knew i was going to reply to the above.
playing our kids is certainly a better option than playing the MANY DUDS on our list, and we will improve but over a period of time.take a look at the dogs they have copped plenty of hidings over recent yrs but once they got the necesary experience into their youngsters all of a sudden they collectively take the next step and start challenging. stkilda did exactly the same thing a few yrs ago. rosalita this expectation of our kids becoming overnite footballers has got to stop. we may well wait 3 or4 yrs for our kids to become better than the duds but one thing thats fairly certain most of them will go past the tivendales pettifers chaffeys krakouers etc of this world so the quicker we get them past these hacks the better.some on this site defend richmond players at any cost even though those players continually underperform for me i would play the promising kids in front of players who have had bad games.what ever happens we have to get the balance right in regards to who plays and who doesnt. that balance imo should be slanted towards playing more kids than duds.remember we hardly dropped a senior player for bad performances this yr according to my reckoning hilton being the only one it makes you wonder how many kids would of got a go if we didnt have the few injuries we copped.
if we are honest about where our list is at it is imperative that we have a low finish in 2006 unfortunately most ferals are delusional about where we are at.
lastly rosalita we wont have to go backwards for me to continue bagging the hacks on our list. their continued crap performances and we all know they are not going to improve enough to become good consitent players over a long period of time is all i will need to get into them.

I dont wanna rebuild or change the list cos we have absolute guns like Hilton Hall, Pettifer, Chaffey, Tivendale, Knoble, Morrison and Krakouer as well as one or two others near retirement, or suspect.
No doubt the RFC list is the envy of every other AFL club i am sure.
Oh Dear the RFC list is still a frightfully disgraceful mess. DUD CENTRAL

STEP 1 IN REBUILDING = DUD RECOGNITION

Unfortunately this is an area in which the RFC has failed abysmally over the past 20 years, with a sad history of re signing substandard players who are not good enuff because they are tall, or are fast or some other *smile* reason rather than concentrating on the facts that such players are crap and offer nothing to the betterment of the club and the side.

DUD CULLING

Once again an area in which RFC has a shocking recent history.
The fact that the RFC still has players such as Hall, Hilton, Morrison, Pettifer, Chaffey, Tivendale, as well as drafting Clydesdales such as Knoble is a sad endichtment of previous administrations. The current administration will have no where to hide, and have failed to do their job properly should these guys be at RFC in 2 years time.

DRAFTING TALENT

Yep you guessed it another shockingly painful reality of RFC that recruiting staff have been unable to draft talent yet remain in the job for years.
Great achievements of past drafts PICK 3 A FIORA. Guess who went at 4 yep one M PAVLICH. YEP good pick that one. ??? :P
Last years draft does not count cos BLING, LIDS and MEYER were monties for all and not even the RFC could not get that draft wrong!!! :P

I am now off to see DMX's therapist hahahahahahaha :hihi :hihi

you have more patience than me craigif the duds are still there another 5 min its 5 min to many.and time will tell if we did as well as we should of at the last draft as i think it was a mistake to not use pick 4 on franklin and i would of taken wood in front of pattison and used pick 20 on pattison or gibson.

I forgot to mention ordinary unproven suspect talents such as Schulz, Hyde, and Moore ect.

Get rid of the duds and trade for quality talent.

Make players such as a Hansen a priority and move heaven and earth to get em. Midfielders are on the part especially at second tier level a dime a dozen so if so called players of name must be traded to get a player who plays very very well in a position that wins games and flags then so be it.
You build a side from the spine first, and as such the RFC must make some big decisions as well as trade duds for picks to optimise quality in the clubs youth.

Like your thoughts but would swap Hyde for Hall any day. I think Hall has done a great job this year whereas Hyde possess little skill(but does have GUTS like Fleming). Might persist with Pettrified BUT I do agree, stick with the kids, they are our FUTURE.
