Bye swap

Some rumours going around that senior players don't want to stay interstate after this week (rumours are 3 big VIC clubs so I'd hazard a guess that includes us). They may be able to convince them to stay for 1 more week (and move the west coast game), it appears like they have zero chance of convincing the players to stay in Perth for a bye week.
I just saw that article pop up on my google news feed.
One of the three big clubs is obviously us. Who might the other two be?
It really does appear that many players and staff at all 3 clubs have drawn a line in the sand and are refusing to be stuck in hubs.
Just waiting for the failed fireman Kornes to slander us over this (never mind the other two unnamed clubs)

Carlton and maybe the Bombers?

Us, Carlton and Bummers, the only three clubs currently not in their home state.

Reading Peter Burge's injury report this week , Nank is a chance for the Eagles game IF the bye comes as scheduled. Would be handy against Nic Nat.

Jack mentioned on 360 also that alot of support staff have jobs and families and they just cannot be away that long with all the soft cap cuts
things are run alot tighter.

This season is getting extremely testing for the boys and sometimes you just do the best you can without really letting it get to you

If it gets to a level where the older players need to come back then we just go into development mode and get games into the younger players and trial new things and players and let be what will be

It definitely seems like Round 13 against the Eagles is being considered. I don't think Nank will play if it was in 13 or 14.

This was the line in Lamberts bit.

""Depending on what next week holds for us, which we are a bit unsure of at this stage, he is a chance to be training and possibly even be available if we have to play next week."

"If we have to play next week" is a guide that a Round 13 fixture and a Round 14 bye is being considered.

If bringing forward our West Coast game means a few blokes go home and Nank isn't ready, the AFL will definitely do it.

Maybe the injured players can double up as support staff so they can stay in melb(jobs).
Lambo can look after Dusty like he does on field.
Nank can be our Runner and run through any bomber he comes across.
Lynch as water boy.Who Nank misses Lynch gets

I think bringing it forward would be to try and stop players coming home. If they don't and they say we must stay in Perth for 2 weeks as we have the bye, expect an exodus of players back to Melbourne.

They may be able to convince them to stay for 1 more week, with the confirmation that they can go back regardless after we play West Coast next week with the aim to start games back up in Melbourne in Round 15.

Yep. senior players wanting to go home is a big problem for us, completely understandable of course. That could stuff our season more than injuries.

Won't just be ours. Last season it happened at Rd 2 where all teams probably felt they had a chance at finals.
This year we're halfway through so players with families in teams that are out of the running will probably refuse to hub as well.

True baloo, although I feel it could affect us more since we've staggered through the first half, and only now are getting our best players back. Oh well, such is life as Cuz's abdomen reads

I think that the number of players refusing to hub will be so great that the Clubs and AFL will can the idea.

The thing is they may not need a hub solution this year. That should be dealt with as a back up solution.
