Campbell has caretaker spot

As said previously, Campbell was my favourite player in his time at Richmond.

That he decided to stay at the club, when tempted by a leading club, are bonus points for loyalty in my book.

That he chose to return to the Tiges, though he had an assistant's role at a leading club, are extra bonus points for his loyalty in my book too.

I don't know enough about Campbell on a personal basis nor as a coach,

But from what I've seen on the field, he's certainly a Tiger.

PS, this is not an endorsement for either 2009 or beyond.

Like everyone else, I'll wait & see.

An absolute monty / no-brainer.

I hope he does well...

Wayne Campbell will coach the Richmond Football Club in 2010!
The way they were talking on MMM after the game it sounds like WC might be the only one who wants the job beyond this year.

BTW...Brayshaw *smile* me how he serves it up to other clubs (i.e. RFC) but his own club is off limits when it comes to discussion. Club officials should be banned from commentating on games...that goes for you to Eddie and SEN.

Spot on, heard snippets of TFS last night and he kept shutting anyone down who asked about Laidley.

You mean you actually listen to him. Wow, I honestly thought no one did :hihi

Doubt that.

There would be plenty that would want the gig.

Bucks sounded interested at halftime on tv.

Then they know jack. People would be surprised to learn how many have put their hand up for the job.

Mobile phone only picks up FM so it's the MMM drongos or nothing. I guess there's always Love Songs and Dedications. Could have sent one to Terry.

Agree...Brayshaw is a goose...only talks sense when it comes to cricket. Should stick to what he knows best...or at least something about.

Do tell Velo....fill me with some hope on another miserable winter's evening!

These players feed off each other too much. When we're on top, everyone wants to work hard, the team scores quickly and we look as though we have talent. When things are going south, the entire team seems to drop its collective head. Performances like Mitch Morton's in R1 are rare. Campbell needs to make a start on instilling a consistent four-quarter approach rather than the all-or-nothing mentality that is killing us at present.

Does Campbell have the skill to condition the players this way? Early on, Campbell, Knights and Lambert were standouts on a generally dire Richmond list. While it was acknowledged that they were very good prospects, they were criticised for being one-way players. They developed an adequate defensive side over time, but it didn't come naturally.

If consistent effort and personal leadership is not demanded of the players, this current team (and the club as a whole) will never fulfil its potential. I'll handle losing for the rest of this year, but only if it's accompanied by an end to the manic depressive fluctuations within games that are being dished up most weeks.

Yup, for those who think conflict of interest is not a big deal this sort of thing is exactly why some people raise it as an issue.
