can we be the next victorian team to win a premiership?

Ultimately, it's a question of how highly you rate our young KPPs (and personally I think our stocks are desperately low), how important you think KPPs are if you are going to win a premiership (I think the answer to that is essential) and how easy you think they are to get in the draft when you're mid-table (damn tough if last year is anything to go by). So if you are talking about simply competitiveness, yes I agree we're ahead of them (although I'm not sure if having three more wins than them at this stage of the season equates to being '2 years ahead'). However if we are talking about structure and a team that could 'potentially' go all the way - then I'm sorry, I think they're ahead of us.

disagree totally

on another note. tw has come out and mentioned how the interstate teams have a huge advatage with bringing up kids at local level. interetsing point... is he right?

it was also mentioned todat that melbourne and footscray are each gonna play a home game in canberra next year in addition to their other games in darwin and brisbane. more disadvantageness for the victorian clubs...

if adelaide (at home) beat melbourne next week, if freo (at home) beat port and sydney (at home) beat carlton, it will be an all-interstate top 4...

i'm not a betting man but thats almost a certainty

A dead certainty. It shows that we CAN be the next Victorian team to win a flag. Those ahead of us now aren't likely to win one in the near future giving us time to catch them. Collingwood aren't that good, the Bullies are a few big bodies off really challenging and I'm not sure how good Meklbourne really are. The Saints have a great list and remain the most likely but their window is slowly closing and I maintain that Thomas is a hack of a coach.

Will we do it? Who knows. Can we? Why not??!

actually with adelaide injuries announced today maybe melbourne might win and we can have a victorian rep in the top 4

Definitely a chance but you'd still say unlikely wouldn't you?

Too great of an imbalance in our list.

A lack of 2 quality defensive KP and one genuine skilled fast midfielder that will take some time to address before its on track for any tilt at a flag.We still have too many flanker sized guys on the list.
Depth is a problem currently as well. When the likes of Chaffey and Rodan are still getting selected you know its true.
Watching Essendon wallop us at the stoppages on Saturday reminded me that we have some way to go,but certainly finals are acheivable in the next few seasons.

would it be best if the afl just give freo a flag and have it done with?
