Jeez what a meltdown........al these upset flower-sniffing, brightsiders :-*
After settling down after reading all that (mind you I was screaming at the TV, kicking the cat and going out to have an angry smoke most of the night) I thought there were a few positives from the night.
Thought Morton and Casserley showed they MIGHT be players in their first games.
King showed he will go on from last year.
Moore showed his form late in the year was not a fluke and COULD be a good player.
Newman took a step up after all this time (surprising really).
Tambling continues to SLOWLY improve.
Tuck helped out when he went into the middle.
Wallace and his coaching panel were exposed for the overpaid conmen that they are.
The stopgap recruiting decisions were exposed for what they were - low quality insurance to protect or deflect attention from poor coaching and development. There's no new assistant because no-one good enough will be allowed in to threaten the incumbents and not even the poor ones are stupid enough to commit professional suicide...... Collins anyone.
the Negatives (oh the horror)
Simmonds underdone after all this time, will he ever get back to 2006 form?
Riewoldt HAS to improve.... coaching intensive project.
Polak basically useless, at least in the backline he may do something, in the forwards its too easy to bludge.
Johnson is gone as a mid, just too old and broken down.
JON has no idea about competitive football (as said at the time of his recruitment).
McMahon why pick 19, Wallace and Miller?
Sylvester & Cartledge were ordinary and will probably not get better. Why bother getting them as rookies when two kids might give more in a couple of years (re Foley, Thursfield, King and Moore).
Tivendale & Hyde may be OK in a good team, but can't be hidden in a poor one.
Raines has been poorly coached IMO, to have such a good year in 2006 and drop off so badly now.
