PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Fremantle.
Serial disapointments away but unpredictable and dangerous at home.

So can we beat the Shockers?

Richo and Lids are obviously both out which can't be underestimated.
Also we're coming off the high of upsets against more fancied opposition in Adelaide and Geelong.
Victory is a big ask despite Freo's thumping at the hands of an improved Lions outfit..

One thing's for certain, Freo know how to play that ground. We cannot let them run and maintain possession.

So what sort of gameplan and strategy will the coaching staff employ this week to win?

I watched the Fremantle vs Brisbane game.
The one BIG thing that stood out to me was that the Fremantle players whilst skilful in open space, wilted under pressure big time. They are fundamentally soft.
When physically harrassed they go any which way but direct and their skills fall away dramatically.
They were like lost sheep in need of a working dog and dropped their heads when it all got too hard.

Obviously TW will watch that tape closely.
Terry has come up with well documented gameplans against quality opposition over the past fortnight. He's going to have to delve into the bag of tricks again.
This week I feel are going to need to play man on man football, tackle, bump and get our hands on the ball first.

1%s against Freo will be imperitive.

We need to control the footy as I think they'll carve us up on that ground if we play unaccountable football.

Richo's workrate up forward has been exceptional this season. To say he'll be missed is an understatement. Unless someone fills the void(no easy feat) and provides similar labour I think it could tell against us at the end of the game. Freo can't be allowed to hurt us on the rebound. Counteracting that will take some work. :-\

Pace isn't a problem this time around however this is offset by Deledio missing.

Personally I feel Hartigan is a must inclusion this week because he has pace, likes to carry the footy and likes the tough stuff. Seems a perfect inclusion.

Hughes also should come in. Is fast on the lead and might flourish in the open spaces of Subiaco also in the absence of Richo and Stafford.

Still the replacements feel a bit light on. Lids & Richo are amoungst our elite. They can't be replaced easily no matter who comes in.

It's been a rich vein of form for the side but to maintain that intensity on the road will be difficult.
Also Freo will be keen to avenge their pathetic loss against Brisbane.

I can't help but feel we might lose this weekend. I hope I'm wrong.
