PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

This link is an interview Kane did on Sport927 this morning.

A synopsis for the benefit of those without speakers.

  • Kane's body is very good. Probably been the most consistant pre-season he's ever had and it gives him confidence going into Rd 1

  • He'll probably start as a "lock-on" player depending on who we play. See how it goes throughout the year. Depends on matchups and is likely to be defence some weeks and offence others. THey ahve to start trusting a few more players in that role.

  • Improvement will come from us being a lot more even this year and not relying on the Richardsons and Browns. Should get a lot more improvement from Tambling, Howatt, Foley. If we don't we can't advance. We need improvement from the younger brigade

  • Improvement would be to have more than last year's 11wins and 9th place.. Hope for 12,13,14 wins and playing finals. Anything less that that would be a failure.

  • Polak took on Richo in all pre-season games and did a good job. He's likely to go forward to be an option down there at times. Is really good down back but a good foil forward.

  • Simmo was flying. A big blow to lose him. Hopefully back Rd 3 or 4. Hopefully Knobes will play this week or Rd 2. We'll have to do without them this week and see how Patto or whoever comes in goes.

  • Browny is back to agile, skillful best. Kicked 4 goals and had 20 possessions against the Wobblers in Mildura. He was the difference between the two sides.

  • Krak has been fantastic, probably the best shape he's been in. Considering the things that have gone on it's a real credit to him for getting stuck into it and making sure his footy doesn't suffer from all the disruption off the field. Everyone's been supportive of him and hoping he can have a big year. It seems when he's playing well a lot of the time Richmond is playing well.

  • Hopes not to see Riewoldt in the first half of the season because that would mean the full team wasn't out there. If it happens we get a couple of injuries he's confident the new kids can do the job.

  • King is from Diamond Valley League and was b&f for Coburg last year. He's a little goer, similar type to Stephen Baker, small, nuggety and can play on the small forwards and harass them. Plays a tight hard game. They're really keen to get him out there cos he adds some grunt. We'll hopefully see him this week or the week after.

  • Richo has put his hand up to be the first senior player in with the match committee and Patto is the first up junior player. Richo is in cos he hasn't played a lot the last few weeks and has made a few changes with the committee and was in on Tuesday's with Terry. The concept will test the boys out going in after a game. It will be good for them.

  • The players are confident in the game plan now, a few things have been tweaked, but everyone knows what their requirements are on the field and how they need to play. We should see a big improvement this year.
